Who’s keeping us on the edge of our seats again? None other than Rian Johnson, director of Brick, Knives Out, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian way was circling and at one point, Akira, had an $18.5M California Tax credit. Disney+ has unveiled its latest Korean original: Gold Land, a gritty crime thriller created by Oldboy screenwriter Hwang Joyoon and directed by Chief Detective 1958 helmer Kim Sunghoon.

Set in rural Korea and suffused with tension, Gold Land follows Kim Heeju (played by Light Shop star Park Boyoung), a young woman who stumbles into possession of gold bars belonging to a smuggling syndicate. On the run from a violent criminal network and forced to return to a hometown she had hoped to forget, Heeju’s story quickly turns into a harrowing chase for survival.

With the 10-episode “Murderbot” series, we actually get two sci-fi shows in one: There’s the main sci-fi comedy from Chris and Paul Weitz about a rogue security robot (Alexander Skarsgård) hiding his free will while on a dangerous mission with a group of scientists. In addition, there’s Murderbot’s favorite space soap opera that he watches for escapist fun: the cheesy “Star Trek” parody, “Sanctuary Moon” (starring John Cho as the Captain).

For production VFX supervisor Sean Faden, this meant wrangling a diverse array of nearly 1,800 VFX shots. This included the opening and closing of Murderbot’s helmet (his practical white suit was created by costume designer Laura Jean Shannon), the Ui that reflects his Pov (accompanied by his snarky voice-over commentary), a giant alien worm, and the realistic VFX used on the bridge of the spaceship on “Sanctuary Moon.”

Farrell reunites with the filmmaker in a new, mind-bending journey that sees a pair of characters visit their past by walking through mysterious doors.

Two strangers, played by Farrell and Robbie, have a chance meeting and go on a mystical adventure that involves them opening doors and visiting memories in the trippy official trailer for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. In addition to Farrell and Robbie, the cast features Jodie Turner-Smith, Lily Rabe, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Hamish Linklater. However, as the footage suggests, audiences will mostly be acquainted with Carrell and Robbie's characters, David and Sarah, respectively, both of whom reckon with the key parts of their unique pasts. Starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, the grand romance adventure tells an imaginative tale of two strangers and the inspiring journey that binds them. The film will be released in theaters on September 19 later this year, and it also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Hamish Linklater (The Big Short), and Billy Magnussen (No Time to Die). Disney+ has revealed that Korean crime thriller “Nine Puzzles” has become the platform’s most-viewed Korean title globally in 2025, just nine days after its May 21 debut.

The series stars Kim Dami (“Itaewon Class”) as Yoon Ena, a high school student who discovers her murdered uncle’s body alongside a mysterious puzzle piece, only to become the prime suspect. A decade later, now a criminal profiler, she’s pulled into a new series of murders connected by similar puzzle pieces. Son Sukku (“Big Bet”) co-stars as Detective Kim Hansaem, with Kim Sungkyun (“Moving”) and Hyun Bongsik rounding out the cast. The show is based on author Martha Wells' book series of the same name, starring Alexander Skarsgård as a security unit robot tasked with protecting the PreservationAux team who are on an expedition on an unknown planet.
