Daniel Dae Kim will star in and executive produce a series adaptation of the graphic novel “Butterfly” currently in development at Amazon, Variety has learned exclusively.

The project is described as a character-driven spy thriller. Per the official logline, the series centers on “David Jung (Kim), an enigmatic, highly unpredictable former US intelligence operative living in South Korea, whose life is blown to pieces when the consequences of an impossible decision from his past come back to haunt him, and he finds himself pursued by Rebecca, a deadly, sociopathic young agent assigned to kill him.” According to sources, the series would shoot in South Korea and feature both Korean and English dialogue.

The “Butterfly” graphic novel was created by Arash Amel and written by Amel and Marguerite Bennett. It was illustrated by Antonio Fuso and Stefano Simeone. It was originally published by Boom! Studios in 2015.

Ken Woodruff is co-creating the series with novelist Steph Cha.

A new Archie Comics-based drama is coming to The CW, TheWrap has confirmed.

“Jake Chang” — set in the same universe as its predecessors “Riverdale” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” — hails from Oanh Ly and Viet Nguyen, who worked on the latter series, Daniel Dae Kim’s 3Ad, Archie Comics and Warner Bros. Television.

The official logline for the series is as follows: “‘Jack Chang’ is an Asian-American–led mystery following a 16-year-old private investigator as he navigates the racially and socioeconomically diverse worlds of his ever-gentrifying home of Chinatown, and the elite private high school he attends. When it comes to making features like this one, i love the idea of coming up with my own personal “100 Great Kung Fu Movies” of all time. It is tough choosing just 100 because you know there are many more great Kung Fu movies that are not on the list.

I have decided that to make the list, a movie must have a few hand to hand moments during fight scenes in the movies chosen. If for example its mainly sword play with one fight scene hand to hand it won’t make the list. Its old school “style” Kung Fu movies, not modern day settings.

I understand everyone will have their own personal favorites and some may not agree with my list and that’s fine because it’s nice to have different opinions on this genre which keeps it fresh and alive when having good debates.

On February 28th & March 1st, we attended the Long Beach Comic Expo in Southern California. It’s the spring sister event to the Long Beach Comic Con. Yuen Biao is one of the greatest screen performers of all time. He exploded onto our screens when Sammo Hung cast him in the amazing movie Knockabout and he has never looked back since.

Jesse Katz’s Los Angeles magazine story about breakout L.A. Dodgers star Yasiel Puig’s journey from Cuba to California is getting the movie treatment: Brett Ratner and his RatPac Entertainment nabbed the rights to turn the story — published only weeks ago — into a film.

Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan have been set to headline a currently untitled heist film at Warner Bros.

Plot details are being held under wraps, but the project will take place in Macau, China and is said to be in the same vein as Ocean's Eleven. Tom Gormican will be directing from a script he wrote. Scott Aversano, Brett Ratner and John Cheng will produce.

Tom Gormican, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan previously worked together on the director's romantic comedy That Awkward Moment. The pair are also rumored to make up half of Josh Trank's The Fantastic Four, which will begin shooting this summer with a June 19, 2015 release date.

No production schedule has been released.

Here's today's latest casting news: Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan will reunite with That Awkward Moment director Tom Gormican for his untitled heist movie set up at Warner Bros. Elodie Yung is the latest addition to Alex Proyas' Gods of Egypt, starring Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush, Brenton Thwaites and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. James Badge Dale is reported as being in negotiations for Legendary's supernatural thriller, Spectral, directed by Nic Mathieu. Hit the jump for more on both pictures. In this biopic, Donnie Yen is Ip Man, one of the earliest Wing Chun martial arts exponents and the man credited to have elevated its popularity in the early parts of the 20th century. Best known for his role as Bruce Lee’s first mentor, Ip Man is godlike amongst martial arts fans. As far as biopics goes, Ip Man isn’t really award-winning material. The picture takes plenty of liberties with the facts of the legendary practitioner of the Southern Chinese fighting style. It’s slightly exaggerated and fairly straightforward storytelling, but first and foremost, Ip Man is an excuse for Yen to demonstrate his newfound mastery of the Wing Chun style – and on that front, the film succeeds brilliantly.

I thought it was about time i did a post on the great vampire buster of all time, yes you got it, lam Ching Ying. This will be listing all the movies and tv series where Lam Ching Ying either stars in or takes on the hopping vampires and evil spirits.

His roles in the Mr.Vampire movies show his skills as an actor, with great comic timing which goes well with his serious acting side, which we normally get to see on screen. This role would make him, not just a big star in Asia but also worldwide as the master of Vampire killers.

Other great movies which he starred in (But not in a vampire movie) were the likes of The Prodigal Son, School On Fire, Eastern Condors, The Magnificent Butcher and Painted Faces.

Neoflix, a fulfillment house used by many self-distributing independent filmmakers, has fallen severely behind on its payments, say filmmakers and producers who have contracted with the company. Today in a blog post, filmmaker and former Neoflix customer Jon Reiss writes, “I have received reports from a number of filmmakers that they have not been paid by Neoflix for months. Some filmmakers are owed hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands of dollars.” Separately, Filmmaker has also been contacted by filmmakers who say they are owed money by Neoflix. We have been told that discussions with the company throughout the Fall of 2010 regarding payment plans have not led to resolution.

Relativity Media has closed a deal with Oscar-winner Julia Roberts to play the Queen in its upcoming untitled Snow White feature, based on the Brothers Grimm story.

The film, directed by Tarsem Singh (“Immortals,” “The Cell”), is in preproduction, with principal photography to begin in April. The theatrical release date is set for June 29, 2012.

According to Relativity, its Snow White will eschew the traditional story in favor of a more modern tale full of comedy and adventure. After her evil stepmother kills her father and destroys the kingdom, Snow White bands together with a gang of seven quarrelsome dwarfs to reclaim what is rightly hers. After three glorious years without having to think about Brett Ratner directing a film, it looks like the filmmaker is making quite the return to the director's chair. The long-gestating Tower Heist starring Ben Stiller has recently been greenlit for Ratner to direct, but he's already looking at another directing gig to follow. Variety reports Ratner has optioned and is looking to direct The Reluctant Communist, a memoir from Charles Robert Jenkins and Jim Frederick which chronicles Jenkin's 1965 desertion and subsequent 40-year imprisonment in North Korea. Ross Katz will script the adaptation being produced by Rat Entertainment. The film will actually follow Jenkins as he surrenders to the North Koreans while drunk and then undergoes a strange and lengthy prison term. Yes, unfortunatley Brett Ratner is still trying to be a filmmaker. He's recently optioned Charles Robert Jenkins and Jim Frederick's 2008 memoir The Reluctant Communist. Ratner is currently attached to direct the film, from a script that will be written by Ross Katz. The movie centers on Jenkins as he surrenders to the North Koreans while drunk and then undergoes a strange and lengthy prison term.

In January of 1965, twenty-four-year-old U.S. Army sergeant Charles Robert Jenkins abandoned his post in South Korea, walked across the Dmz, and surrendered to communist North Korean soldiers standing sentry along the world's most heavily militarized border. He believed his action would get him back to the States and a short jail sentence. Instead he found himself in another sort of prison, where for forty years he suffered under one of the most brutal and repressive regimes the world has known.

Deadline is reporting that the answer to that very question, Brett Ratner, is set to produce a 3D adaptation, no, “re-imagining,” of the legendary story, Snow White. He will be producing the film with Bernie Goldmann, Tucker Tooley, John Cheng, and Ryan Kavanaugh, and has titled the film, The Brothers Grimm: Snow White.

Frank Oz is in negotiations to helm Horrible Bosses for New Line Cinema. The studio acquired the spec comedy script by Michael Markowitz last month for Brett Ratner and Jay Stern to produce through their Rat Entertainment shingle (HR 2/18). The dark comedy revolves around three friends who decide to team up to murder their unbearable bosses. New Line president of production Toby Emmerich, vp Cale Boyter and creative executive Michael Disco will shepherd the project through production for the studio. Stern is overseeing the feature with John Cheng for Rat Entertainment. Oz most recently directed The Stepford Wives and The Score. Repped by CAA, Oz also voiced the character of Yoda in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith.
