Amy Cheng's luminous performance on the acclaimed drama series Growing Up won her a Best Actress nomination at the 2001 Asian Television Awards. The cult classic soon earned her a loyal fan base and that led her to more leading roles on TV. With her sexy on-screen image, it didn't take long before Amy made another big impression on local medical series as doctor Winnie Leong in First Touch. She then went on to play leading roles in other television projects include Like My Own, and the stage to screen series for Arts Central's Machine, Singapore Short Stories 3 - Stay and Anita's Complaint on Arts Central and Happily Ever After on channel OKTO. Given her affable personality, Amy crosses over comfortably with TV hosting and has presented for numerous lifestyle programmes like The Good Life and info-entertainment My Perfect Child, which tackles various parenting issues such as parent- child bonding. Equally adept with event hosting, Amy is especially popular with commercial clients for product launches. Effectively bilingual, Amy has also ventured into Chinese dramas to much acclaim and success - starring in She's the One, Destiny and Making Miracles. She also played a guest role in the much talked about telemovie co-produced by Oak3 Productions and zum Produktionsvertrag (Germany), Perfect Harmony. Besides television, Amy has also ventured into film and theatre with excellent reviews; playing the lead role in Zhao Wei Films' Stories About Love and starred alongside Fann Wong in Just Follow Law, directed by Jack Neo. The recent telemovie, Hong Bao + Kissess she was the sexy mother of Felicia Chin. Amy was also in two seasons of Act 3 Theatre's Footsteps in the Night, Action Theatre's 41 hours, Confessions of the Three Unmarried Women, Singapore Repertory Theatre's Forbidden City, The Good Citizen, Escape Productions' The Deep Blue Sea & Letters from Home for the Esplanade. She was nominated Best Supporting Actress at the 2006 Life! Theatre Awards for her scene-stealing role as the Banana Tree Sprit in her first mandarin musical, Toy Factory's 10 Brothers, challenging roles in Mental and Bertha's Nest and sold out play 251, Amy has most certainly successfully transcended both English and Mandarin genres. Amy is very well regarded within the industry and her knack of juggling both comedy and drama makes her a gem to both producers and directors alike. Amy's most recent work is Yellow Bird Pictures (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) Der Chinese, with Suzanne von Borsody and Michael Nyqvist based on the international best-seller Henning Mankell's The Man from Beijing where she is one of the two Asian leads. Her sincere nature coupled with an unassuming sex appeal gives her the edge that will keep her working for a long, long time. Amy was most recently seen in the Wonderboy - an autobiographical and coming-of-age film directed by Dick Lee in his directorial debut. Amy is in the highly anticipated Warner Brothers Pictures Crazy Rich Asians directed by Jon M Chu as Jacqueline Ling.
