- She graduated from Evans High School in Orlando, Florida with the Class of 1987 and from Rollins College in 1991 where she double-majored in voice and piano.
- A Tennessee native, she and her parents moved to Central Florida in 1976. She began taking piano lessons at 9 and voice at 16. While in high school, she studied television acting at the Lisa Maile Image, Modeling & Acting agency in Winter Park. She also participated in several local pageants and is a former Miss Orlando, Miss Altamonte Springs and Miss Lake County.
