Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story Review – Dreamers in a Dystopian World
Image
Trailer Park Boys stands as a peculiar monument in the world of Canadian comedy, a mockumentary that has navigated the murky seas of human folly with laughter and a sense of tragedy. Here, the strange characters’ existential battle plays out. It’s an exploration of dreams put off and the short-lived nature of happiness in the squalor of their surroundings. Previous films have tried to capture this essence, each with a different take on the theme of chaos and audience. Still, they’ve often gotten mixed reviews, leaving viewers to ponder whether the humor can last beyond the confines of its original format.

The fourth movie in this journey, Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties: The Bubbles and the Shitrockers Story,...

10 Things You Didn't Know About Mike Smith, The Actor From Trailer Park Boys
Image
With his awkwardly hilarious demeanor and thick-lensed glasses, Bubbles has endured as the breakout character of Trailer Park Boys, and there are many interesting facts to know about his actor, Mike Smith. The character's uniquely passive-aggressive nature comes out in some of Bubbles’s most hilarious profanity-filled quotes. Indulging in one misadventure after the other with his friends Ricky and Julian, Bubbles has turned into a pop culture icon. With the character appearing in the Trailer Park Boys’ original run, its movies, and even spinoffs like the animated series, Bubbles has become synonymous with the mockumentary series, as has the actor who plays him.

When he’s not sporting Bubbles’s spectacles, Mike Smith is also known as one of the founders of the television network Swearnet, which spawned its own movie in 2014. Starting Swearnet with his Trailer Park Boys co-stars Robb Wells and John Paul Tremblay, Smith has established...

Netflix UK: 25 underappreciated TV shows worth checking out
Louisa Mellor Aug 22, 2016

You've heard of Breaking Bad, Orange Is The New Black & House Of Cards, what about Danger 5, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Darknet and more?…

Quite understandably, column inches can't fill up quickly enough with praise for the likes of Netflix original series House Of Cards, Orange Is The New Black, Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul and Marvel's Daredevil. What though, about some of the lesser-known series available on the UK streaming site?

Sweeping past the well-publicised riches of Doctor Who, Sherlock, Arrested Development, Community and the like, we've ventured into the slightly dustier shelf of TV shows available on Netflix UK that may be lesser-known or less widely celebrated than the big hitters out there, but are still richly deserving of your time. Some are new, some are old, some were cancelled long ago, some are ongoing, several are from outside the UK and Us.

From supernatural, sci-fi,...

"Trailer Park Boys: Don't Legalize It"

"...out of jail and broke, 'Julian' concocts an outrageously greasy scheme to get rich and, to make it even greasier, he will have to deliver his product to his arch-enemy, 'Cyrus', who's waiting in Montreal to close the dirty deal. Meanwhile, the dope growing business run by 'Ricky' is under a major threat when the government announces a plan to legalize marijuana, so he heads to Ottawa to make an impassioned plea - in the way only Ricky can - 'Say No to Decriminalization'.

Adult Swim just announced that it's given the greenlight to a new scripted, half-hour live-action comedy to arrive later this year. Not to be confused with "Black Nativity," "Black Jesus" is about exactly what the title suggests -- Jesus, played by Gerald "Slink" Johnson, is out to spread love and kindness in present-day Compton, CA, supported by a small band of loyal locals. Aaron McGruder ("The Boondocks," "Red Tails") created the series and will serve as executive producer alongside director Mike Clattenburg ("Trailer Park Boys"). The series also stars Charlie Murphy ("Are We There Yet"), Corey Holcomb ("The Cleveland Show") and John Witherspoon ("The Boondocks"). Adult Swim specializes in animated and live-action series for young adults. Production has already begun on the series in Los Angeles. John Paul Tremblay, Mike Smith, and Robb Wells in Trailer Park Boys: Don't Legalize It (2014)
While a teaser for Trailer Park Boys: Don't Legalize It dropped back in December, it didn't show us too much from the further adventures of Ricky, Julian and Bubbles (Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay and Mike Smith) as they join together on a mission to keep weed from being legalized in Canada. After Trailer Park Boys: The Movie and Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day, they promised they'd never make another movie. They lied. In (Canadian) theaters April 18.

The Canadian TV series Trailer Park Boys and its two feature films only continue to grow in popularity, having reached cult status here in the states on Netflix, where all of their past adventures (save for the special that bridges Season 7 and Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day...

Previously titled The Guys Who Move Furniture, Trailer Park Boys’ creator/director back behind the camera this year with Moving Day – a slightly less bland re-titling.

Will Sasso (the upcoming The Three Stooges) stars in the lead, alongside Victor Garber (Alias), Charlie Murphy (Night at the Museum [and Eddie’s brother]), and comedian Gerry Dee.

Alliance Films have released the first trailer, giving us our first look at what so far seems to be a bit of a tame workplace comedy – it has nothing on, say, Office Space or Clerks.

“From director Mike Clattenburg (Afghan Luke, The Trailer Park Boys) comes the new workplace comedy, Moving Day starring Will Sasso (The upcoming Three Stooges movie, TV’s $#*! My Dad Says). Clyde (Sasso) was in a rut. Overworked and underpaid, he was struggling to make ends meet and starting to feel like a failure. But a new day has arrived for Clyde at Redmond’s...

Bernard Robichaud
Exclusive: Bernard Robichaud Talks American Sunset
Bernard Robichaud
The Trailer Park Boys actor stars alongside Corey Haim in this mystery-thriller from director Michael Masucci, available on DVD and Blu-ray now

Canadian actor Bernard Robichaud first made his mark on pop culture history by portraying the gun wielding maniac Cyrus on both the Trailer Park Boys TV show and its two spin-off movies. Now, Bernard can be seen acting opposite the late Corey Haim, who makes his final bow as a leading man in director Michael Masucci's thrilling mystery American Sunset. The movie serves as a great send-off for the beloved Haim, and a showcase for Robichaud, who turns in a damn fine dual performance as a Bounty Hunter/Lawyer.

We recently caught up with Bernard Robichaud, who is now touring Canada under the guise of a drug dealing thug not unlike the Trailer Park Boys' Cyrus, for a one-man comedy showcase. After begging him to bring this stage show to America,...
