Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Silver Scream Con returned to the Doubletree Boston North Shore in Danvers, Massachusetts on September 8-10 — ’cause let’s face it, baby, these days you gotta have a sequel!
Created by horror-inspired metalcore band Ice Nine Kills, Silver Scream Con has quickly established itself as a top-tier horror convention among celebrity guests and attendees alike. “Everybody’s been really nice, and I’m enjoying myself immensely,” said Tommy Lee Wallace, who created Michael Myers’ iconic mask for the original Halloween before going on to direct Halloween III: Season of the Witch. “I hope everyone gets the shit scared out of them!”
Not even severe thunderstorm alerts could stop the rabid fans, who traveled not just from all over North America but as far as Finland, Scotland, and England to attend. Ticket sales reportedly doubled from the previous year’s already-commendable showing,...

An animated adventure based on the hit multiplayer online battle arena game doesn't feel like it should have the dramatic chops to sustain hours of viewing, right?
Surprisingly and delightfully, Riot Games has created something wholly original and exciting with both deep and dynamic animation styles. Its impressive voice cast includes the recognizable talents of Kevin Alejandro (Lucifer), Ella Purnell, and Hailee Steinfeld (Hawkeye).
Act 1 consists of Episodes 1-3 and introduces audiences to the world and inhabitants of Runeterra, specifically the surface city of progress,...

80s horror classic, Silent Night, Deadly Night has a remake in the works. Deadline reports that Orwo Studios and Black Hangar Studios have acquired the rights to remake the controversial Christmas slasher, which was released in 1984 and spawned a movie franchise with several sequels. Planned for a 2022 release, Orwo is launching sales for the project at the virtual European Film Market.
Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead of Wonderwheel Entertainment, the original movie's producers, are reportedly on board for the remake. They'll be producing alongside Anthony Masi of MasiMedia and Jake Seal, Terry Bird, and Jamie R. Thompson of Orwo Studios/Black Hangar.
"The continued desire for horror content and the ongoing success of the genre meant it was the perfect time to be able to offer up this chilling revival of the iconic title," Wonderwheel said in a statement.
Masi added: "We are thrilled to be working with the original...

Let’s face it: a killer Santa is never not going to look kind of funny. Every entry of the Silent Night, Deadly Night saga knows this (although indignant protestors in 1984 apparently did not). And each opts to deal with this fundamental visual quandary in a markedly different way.
In the original 1984 film, the Santa costume is subverted into a symbol of intrinsic evil, as seen through the eyes of poor Billy Chapman (Robert Brian Wilson). Billy, who looks more like a Patriots linebacker than he does Burl Ives, eventually dons the Santa suit and is subsumed by his own dark thoughts. Try as it might to paint him as a sinister figure by making him muscular and shrouding him in shadow, though, he still looks patently absurd. By Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 3: Better Watch Out! (1989), the homicidal maniac of the second installment, Billy’s little brother Ricky,...
