Born in Mumbai, Sudha Chandran hails from a Tamil-speaking family. Her father, K.D. Chandran, was an actor, and her mother, Thangam, dedicated her time to homemaking. Sudha has two older sisters, Jaya and Raji, and a younger brother, Vijay.

Sudha's childhood remained blissful until the age of 16, when a tragic accident altered the course of her life. The incident led to the amputation of her right leg below the knee. This adversity, however, transformed Sudha into a resilient and determined individual.

Initially uncertain about continuing her Bharatanatyam journey, which she had started at the age of 8, Sudha eventually realized that dance was an inseparable part of her identity. Overcoming physical limitations with the support of her family and friends, she learned to dance on her artificial limb, earning multiple national awards for her exceptional performances.

Beyond Bharatanatyam, Sudha has made a mark as a accomplished film actress, featuring in several popular Hindi and Tamil movies. The life-altering accident occurred on June 12, 1981, when Sudha, returning from a dance performance in Madras, fell from a moving train, leading to the amputation of her right leg above the knee.

Determined not to be defined by her disability, Sudha swiftly returned to the stage, dancing with a prosthetic leg within months of the accident. Her subsequent career as a dancer and actress has been marked by success, with appearances in numerous films and television shows in India and abroad.

Sudha Chandran's inspirational journey continues as she emerged victorious despite losing her leg in a road accident at the age of 16. She persevered, studying at the National School of Drama and establishing herself as a successful actress in Hindi cinema. Post-rehabilitation, Sudha returned to dance, showcasing her talent worldwide. Her story exemplifies inspiration and hope, proving that with determination, anything is possible.

As an accomplished Indian television and film actress, Sudha Chandran is renowned for her roles in the Hindi television series "Naagin" and "Jhansi Ki Rani," as well as her appearances in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films. Beginning her Bharatanatyam training at the age of eight, she went on to win several competitions.

Sudha made her acting debut in the 1981 Tamil film "Nibunanam" but gained widespread recognition with her portrayal of Mohini in the 1984 Hindi film "Mayuri." This film is based on the life of Sudha's friend and fellow Bharatanatyam dancer, Kalpana Chawla.

Despite the amputation of her leg below the knee in 1985 during the shooting of "Yaadon Ki Zanjeer," Sudha Chandran refused to abandon her passion for dance and acting. Equipped with a prosthetic leg, she relearned to walk and mastered intricate Bharatanatyam dance moves. Today, Sudha Chandran stands as an inspiration to individuals worldwide, showcasing that overcoming obstacles is possible with determination and resilience.
