- Initially met Roger Corman while both were taking Jeff Corey's acting classes. Michael was offered his first film role by Roger (who was there to study the art of acting, not to be an actor) during class.

- In an interview on YouTtube,he stated that he initially turned down the old millionaire role in Body (1993), because it was presented to him as "they were doing him a big favor" as he would be filming sex scenes with Madonna. Forest made his agent make an outrageous financial demand to the producers in order to avoid casting him. Surprisingly, whatever payment he asked was agreed by the producers so he had to play the role.
