Miss Spain 1961

Late husband, Baron Thyssen, had one of the world's largest private collection of art. His collection features some 1,500 paintings, sculptures and other works of art. The Thyssen-Bornemisza museum in Madrid was inaugurated in 1992. Carmen persuaded her husband to sell his family collection to the Spanish state for a nominal price.

Has adopted two baby girls, twins, called Guadalupe Sabina and María del Carmen. (July 2006)

She gave birth to a son, Borja, in Madrid in 1980, by Manuel Segura. Baron Thyssen legally adopted the boy in 1985.

Has her own private collection, the "Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection".

Didn't go to her son's wedding with Blanca Cuesta, celebrated on October 11, 2007, in Terrassa, Barcelona.

Gradson Sacha was born on January 31st, 2008.
