‘The Little Acre’ Review (PS4)
While adventure games seem to be dominated by Telltale’s high action style, sometimes it is nice to look back to the good old point and click adventures. This is where The Little Acre comes in, offering exactly that but with some little extra twists to the game play…

The first thing you notice about The Little Acre is how charming the artwork is, it feels like you are playing a cartoon. If you’ve played any of the Broken Sword games then you’ll feel right at home with the graphical style, and the fact that Charles Cecil is the Executive Producer does say a lot about the visual style and influence. The debut title of Dublin-based Pewter Games, based on what I’ve seen here this may be the company to watch for fans of this particular gaming genre – the graphics are charming and the user interface is...

Replay Events confirm first 14 indie studios for Play Expo 2014
Replay Events have confirmed the first fourteen indie studios that will be exhibiting at their Manchester based video games event, Play Expo this coming October. The number represents a considerable increase in developers exhibiting at their annual gaming show. Says Andy Brown, Director at Replay Events:

We are overwhelmed by the support the indie game community has shown our expo this year. The indie zone was a very popular feature at our Play Blackpool show in May as well as at Play Expo last year so we wanted to build on that momentum for this October’s show which is shaping up to be our best yet!

Play Expo is now in its fifth year and has established itself as a firm favourite amongst gamers. The event saw close to 16,000 attendees in 2013 and the organisers have increased the show space to accommodate up to 25,000 gaming fans this year. As well as an indie zone,...

Dirk Maggs Interview: Hitchhiker's, Douglas Adams, Superman, Batman, & more...
Interview James Hunt 18 Jun 2013 - 07:00

James chats to directing legend Dirk Maggs about Hitchhiker's, superheroes, Neverwhere, sci-fi, and making radio sound sexy, big, and raw...

As a radio writer and director, Dirk Maggs' body of work is about as impressive as it gets. As well as being hand-selected by Douglas Adams to continue the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio series, he's also responsible for this year's smash-hit adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere and the Hitchiker's Live touring stage show. James managed to catch up with him for a chat about life, the universe, and everything geeky.

So last year you did the Hitchhiker's Live tour, which reunited the radio cast on stage and had people like Stephen Fry and Neil Gaiman guesting as the voice of the book. And clearly, it was a great success, because as well as releasing the live recording, you're doing another run this year,...

Kickstartin': 'Broken Sword' is Fixin' To Return
The BAFTA award-winning point and click adventure series could be set to return if it keeps getting funded at its current pace.

More details about the latest from series creator Charles Cecil after the jump.

For the fourth sequel in the series, Broken Sword is going back to its 2D roots on the PC and Mac with Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse. The campaign is already nearing 75% if its $400,000 goal just four days in, and if this pace continues, it should be on track to reach its target in the next two or three days.

Gamers are really showing love to this 16-year-old series which has creator Charles Cecil, co-founder of developer Revolution Software and Lead Designer for the series. Apparently this installment will see Rolf Saxon reprising the lead role of George.

The actual game is currently under development, with the Kickstarter campaign being used to speed up the dev process.
