    • Roy Castle was born on August 31, 1932 in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Carry On... Up the Khyber (1968), Dr Who contre les Daleks (1965) and Le train des épouvantes (1965). He was married to Fiona Dickson. He died on September 2, 1994 in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, England, UK.

  • Long time presenter of the BBC TV programme "Record Breakers", based on the Guinness Book of World Records, and holder of several tap-dancing records.
  • Versatile entertainer -- singer, comedian, dancer and trumpet player. First came to the fore during the 1950's in his sketch show "New Look".
  • Four children: Norberto Castronuovo (aka "Daniel Castle") (born in 1965), Julia Castle (born in 1967), Antonia Castle (born in 1969) and Ben Castle (born in 1973).
  • He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1993 Queen's New Year Honours List for charitable services.
  • Although a life long non-smoker, it is believed that the lung cancer which took his life was caused by breathing second hand smoke in the clubs where he performed.
