    • Pauline Carton was born on July 4, 1884 in Biarritz, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, France. She was an actress, known for Le Jour le plus long (1962), Ce cochon de Morin (1932) and Le nouveau testament (1936). She died on June 17, 1974 in Paris, France.

Trivia

  • Famous for her fantastic memory, she wrote two successful books of souvenirs: "Les Théâtres de Carton" and "Histoires de cinéma".
  • A close friend and favorite actress of Sacha Guitry, she acted a lot of roles in his plays and films, often as a maid.
  • Born in a bourgeois family, her engineer father was an assistant of baron Haussman, she mainly played working women who could have an acid tongue.
  • She had a 50 years relationship with Swis poet Jean Violette, born Frédéric-Jean von Gunten (1876-1964).
