Barry is the son of an Auto worker and comes origially from Detroit. In
between there and his present digs in L.A. he has made lengthy stops in
Rock Island, Illinois. Salt Lake City, Utah. Eugene, Oregon and even
Fresno. Having also lived in Germany and worked in England and Japan,
he has a good ear for accents. He speaks German and a few words of
Russian, French, Italian, Spanish and Japanese.
Barry's first acting gigs, like most, were in local theatre... but at the uncommonly tender age of 5 or 6. This gives him a very long theatrical resume and makes him quite 'at home' on just about any stage. From Euripides and Aeschylus - and the classics of ancient Greece right through the most free-form of the avant guard. Stoppard, Simon, O'Niell and Ibsen - Carver's no stranger to any of them... and has an especiallly strong Shakespeare bond. His improvisation skills are... in a word... amazing!
He has, in addition to his acting, maintained a distiguished career in journalism and has worked as a cameraman, reporter, writer and producer for everything from local news outlets all the way up to NBC network. He is also an accomplished sculpter and painter.
