He and his wife Meryl once ran a health food business.

Began his career at age 17 working in numerous theater productions in his hometown of New Orleans.

Appeared in nearly 100 stage productions on Broadway, off-Broadway, and off-off-Broadway, as well as touring companies, stock, and in regional theaters around the country. He won a Los Angeles Weekly Award for Best Actor in the Theatre East production of "Manhattan Express" in 1987, and a 1995 Dramalogue Award for his portrayal of "Sam Byck" in the Los Angeles Repertory production of "Assassins".

Had two children, Alexandra and Christina, from his first marriage, and daughter Micah from his second.
