Chase Masterson

Trivia

Chase Masterson

Edit
  • Originally auditioned for the role of Jake Sisko's Bajoran girlfriend Mardah on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993). She was one of two actresses up for the role, but lost out because she was considered rather too sexy. The role of Leeta, a Dabo girl, was written with her in mind, but she still had to audition for the role.
  • Was a national spokesperson for NordicTrack. On her first day on the set of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), actor Avery Brooks recognized her from the commercials.
  • Along with fellow Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993) co-stars Aron Eisenberg, Max Grodénchik and the late Cecily Adams, she was part of the popular comedy sketch "Ferengi Family Hour" that frequented Star Trek conventions.
  • Sued Matchmaker.com after an unknown person using a computer in Berlin, Germany, posted a profile of Masterson containing her real-life personal contact information on the site without her knowledge or consent. The trial court dismissed her case on the basis that she is a public figure. On August 13, 2003, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the trial court's dismissal. Masterson has since become a vocal advocate for online privacy, especially for celebrities and public figures.
  • Spent 8 years as a professional dancer, and is a member of the improvisational group "The Groundlings".
  • Is good friends with actor Jonathan Del Arco, who recommended Chase to audition for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993). He felt that she would make a good Bajoran alien.
  • Received her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts for theatre (acting) from the University of Texas at Austin.
  • Playmates Toys released a 4.5-inch Star Trek action figure in the likeness of her character, Leeta on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993).
  • Was named Best Feature Film Producer of 2008 by the LA Femme Film Festival for her work as producer of the film noir Yesterday Was a Lie (2009).
  • Best known by the public (and by many sci-fi fans) for her recurring role as the sexy casino girl Leeta on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993).
  • Is good friends with Lolita Fatjo. Fatjo's first name was the inspiration for that of Masterson's character, Leeta on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993).
  • Co-founded the Popular Culture Hero Coalition, a non-profit organization speaking out against "bullying, racism, misogyny, cyber-bullying, LGBT-bullying, and other forms of hate" (2013).
  • Grew up in West Haven, Connecticut.
  • On the episode The Nuclear Man (2015), she appeared as the hypersexual current resident of Barry Allen's family's former home.
  • Attended the closing of Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino on September 1, 2008.
