Woody Allen opens L.A. Film Festival with 'To Rome With Love'
To Rome with Love (2012)
Woody Allen is rarely seen on the West Coast, but he was in L.A. Thursday night for the North American premiere of his latest film, To Rome With Love at the Los Angeles Film Festival.

“Everyone has been saying to us, ‘Is he really gonna show up? Is he really gonna show up?’ for two months now,” Sean McManus, co-president of Film Independent, which produces the festival, told EW.

But show up he did, and to a standing ovation as he took the stage to introduce his 47th directorial feature.

The film, a series of interwoven vignettes that take place in Rome,...

With a spasm of east coast neurosis, Woody Allen gets the event underway – and it isn't long before things get raucous

Woody Allen waits anxiously to introduce To Rome with Love at the Regal theatre in downtown La; there are echoes of the young, nervous standup who performed against his will at the start of his career. But this is the opening night of the Los Angeles film festival, as well as the movie's North American premiere, so within nanoseconds of Allen striding up to the mic the crowd are on their feet.

"I was blessed with a great cast. A cast I'm counting on to make me look good," he stutters, endearingly, before introducing Penélope Cruz, Alison Pill, Greta Gerwig, Simona Caparrini and Alessandra Mastronardi. "If you like the picture, I'm thrilled. If you hate it and think it was a waste of time coming, don't let me know...

Joining Penelope for pictures were Simona Caparrini, Alessandra Mastronardi, Alison Pill, Greta Gerwig, and, of course, their director Woody Allen. The ensemble cast is getting into high promotional mode before the picture's release in the Us next Friday on June 22. Penelope jetted to California after a stint in her home country of Spain, where she spent time with husband Javier Bardem and their son, Leo. First Images, Full Cast, and Soundtrack Announced for Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love
Woody Allen’s next film, heretofore known as ‘Nero Fiddled’, was officially re-titled yesterday and given a new name that should see it resonate better in its international territories, and so from here on out we’ll know it as ‘To Rome With Love’.

We now have the first eleven images to share with you, some images of the film itself and others including Allen on set, as well as the full cast line-up (which is excellent) and the full soundtrack details (which are just a little bit impeccable).

The romantic-comedy is made up of four vignettes, two of which revolving around American characters and two around Italian characters, with the main cast including the likes of Allen himself, Alec Baldwin, Penélope Cruz, Ellen Page, Jesse Eisenberg, Roberto Benigni, Judy Davis, Greta Gerwig, and Alison Pill.

The newly re-titled To Rome With Love will open in Italy on 20th April...
