What Is Long Story Short? BoJack Horseman Creator Returns on Netflix
Image
Recently, Netflix has been doubling down on its animated content, which has been an amazing move. After all, its recent film, KPop Demon Hunters, has been turning heads and getting praise from The Academy. This probably pushed the streamer to renew its other popular show, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, for a standalone Season 2.

However, that was just the beginning because Netflix has decided to bring Raphael Bob-Waksberg, the creator of BoJack Horseman, for another original project. This time, he will not limit himself to a single character but will engage in the family dynamics with his Long Story Short.

The Cast and Plot of Long Story Short

When Netflix first premiered BoJack Horseman, back in 2014, the world was taken aback watching a talking horse struggling with his mental health. The series was entertaining, yet it left us introspecting about ourselves and our relationships, which made it stand apart.

‘BoJack Horseman’ Creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg on Ditching Satire for Sincerity in ‘Long Story Short’
Image
Raphael Bob-Waksberg, the man broadly credited with reinventing animation with his 6-season, three-time Emmy-nominated Netflix hit Bojack Horseman, is back with more family trauma, but no taking animals, in Long Story Short.

The new Netflix animated series, which Bob-Waksberg premiered at the Annecy international animation film festival on Thursday, follows the trials and tribulations, or as Bob-Waksberg puts it, the “small t traumas,” of the Schwoopers, a fairly ordinary Jewish family.

“On one hand, it is an animated family comedy like Bob’s Burgers or King of the Hill, that kind of show, we have two parents, three kids,” he said, speaking at Annecy ahead of the series’ world premiere. “But the way we’re telling stories is a little different, in that we’re traveling back and forth through time. Not by using a time machine, just in the way we’re telling stories. So in the first episode, we...

It's the end of the line for In the Know, which has learned its fate one year after its debut on Peacock. The series, a political satire show made with stop-motion animation mixed with real interview footage, will not be returning for Season 2.

Per Deadline, Peacock has officially canceled In the Know after one season. The series premiered on the streaming platform on Jan. 25, 2024, having since stayed on the bubble while awaiting its fate. The show was serving as an experiment of sorts, as it marked the first adult animated series that was made as a Peacock original. This experiment does not seem to have worked out.

Bob the Builder | Jennifer Lopez producing film adaptation at Amazon
Jennifer Lopez
Bob the Builder is heading to the big screen, courtesy of Amazon and Jennifer Lopez, here are the details.

We can’t be the only ones who never expected to type the words Bob The Builder and Jennifer Lopez in the same sentence, but here we are.

Background first. Bob The Builder began life as an animated television series, created by Keith Chapman in 1990 – Chapman went on to create the hugely successful Paw Patrol. Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey voiced the titular character for a whopping eighteen series between 1999 and 2011. It followed the jovial Bob and his anthropomorphic building manchines as they solved construction problems around the villiage.

Can We Fix It?, the show’s earworm of a theme song written by Paul K. Joyce, even made its way to the top of the charts, beating Westlife’s What Makes A Man to Christmas number one in 2000.

Amazon MGM Studios says, “Yes, we can!” to the animated Bob the Builder movie from Jennifer Lopez and Anthony Ramos
Image
Si se puede! Amazon MGM Studios is ready to strap on its tool belt after winning a bidding war for Mattel’s animated Bob the Builder movie! While the ink has yet to dry, we hear Amazon beat Dreamworks Animation and others looking to lay the foundation of an ambitious rework of Bob, the beloved general contractor with a passion for construction and learning. The Bob the Builder movie hails from Jennifer Lopez’s production studio, Nuyorican Productions, and ShadowMachine, the animation house behind Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio, Tuca & Bertie, Moral Orel, Robot Chicken, and more.

The project reimagines Bob the Builder with Anthony Ramos in the lead role. Bob’s latest adventure is set in Puerto Rico. The story celebrates the resilience and spirit of Latino culture, and the new setting offers much to Bob’s outreach and influence.

Jennifer Lopez & Anthony Ramos Mattel Animated Movie ‘Bob The Builder’ Heading To Amazon MGM Studios – The Dish
Image
Exclusive: Sources are telling us that Amazon MGM Studios has won the bidding war for Mattel’s animated feature Bob the Builder which had Netflix, DreamWorks Animation and others vying for the project. Not all deals are complete, I understand.

Bob the Builder is being produced by Jennifer Lopez‘s Nuyorican Productions and ShadowMachine (who were behind Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio) and it stars Twisters actor Anthony Ramos in the title role. It was Ramos’ idea to deliver a Bob the Builder set in Puerto Rico, in a story that’s about the resilience of the Latino culture. He is a producer on the film. Bob’s motto in Spanish: “Si se puede” aka “Yes we can.” Felipe Vargas is adapting. Tbd on whether the movie is for Prime or the big screen.

Lopez isn’t currently in talks for a voiceover role in Bob the Builder, I understand.

‘In The Know’ Trailer: Hugh Laurie, Finn Wolfhard, Tegan And Sara & More Get Pulled Into Awkward Interviews in Peacock’s Adult Semi-Animated Series
Image
Peacock has unveiled the trailer for In The Know, an adult animation series which combines stop-motion animation and live-action interviews, from Zach Woods, Mike Judge and Brandon Gardner.

Co-created by Woods, Gardner and Judge, the public radio parody chronicles the making of NPR’s fictional “third most popular host” Lauren Caspian’s radio program, where he conducts in-depth interviews with guests, including Kaia Gerber, Ken Burns, Finn Wolfhard, Norah Jones, Mike Tyson, Hugh Laurie, Jorge Masvisdal and more.

In one interview Caspian asks Hugh Laurie, “what should we do about Meghan Markle,” to which an emotionless Laurie responds, “I don’t know that any action is required.”

Caspain also tells a befuddled Jonathan Van Ness that he’s a sapiosexual who “once got an erection by reading Plato’s The Cave.” Other guests include Norah Jones, Nicole Byer, Roxane Gay, and Tegan and Sara,...

Peacock has unveiled the trailer for In the Know, the NBCUniversal-backed streamer’s first adult animation series.

The semi-animated series’ interviewer is Lauren Caspian, “NPR’s third most-popular host,” according to a Peacock synopsis, a stop-motion puppet and intellectual blowhard forever embarrassing himself on air in front of real world guests.

“I’m sexually attracted to ideas. I once got an erection from reading Plato’s The Cave,...

The world of entertainment is no stranger to diving into the eccentricities of everyday life. But few have taken on this challenge with as much whimsical charm and delightful absurdity as the upcoming Apple TV+ series, Strange Planet. This animated show promises a fresh and hilarious perspective on the life we think we know, based on Nathan Pyle's beloved New York Times bestselling graphic novel.
