Anya started off working for Tim Bevan at Working Title Films producing music videos for Nic Roeg, Mike Newell and Derek Jarman, amongst other directors. Sponsored for the BBC Drama Director's course, Anya made her debut on Channel 4, directing drama EYE CONTACT, starring Jason Isaacs. She went on to direct many episodes of primetime drama, as well as BBC TV movie TWO GOLDEN BALLS, starring Kim Cattrall and veteran star Leslie Phillips.
Next she co-originated and was lead director of the acclaimed series LIVERPOOL 1 for ITV, which led the autumn schedule for 2 seasons. After this, Anya co-created and was lead director of Channel 4 drama NY-LON, a 7 hour transatlantic love story, set in London and New York, starring Rashida Jones.
Her short PERFECT starring Stephen Moyer, about a neurotic estate agent who goes on a killing spree, was selected for international festivals including: Karlovy Vary FF, BFI London FF, London FF. Short film JEALOUSY, starring Paul Nicholls, premiered at Palm Springs FF, Austen FF and London FF.
A GIRL OF NO IMPORTANCE, filmed in medieval Rome, about sex trafficking, has won numerous international festival awards, including best director and writer.
Anya directed MOVING ON, a series of daytime plays set in contemporary Britain, by creator Jimmy McGovern, for the BBC and CLINK, an original series set in a female prison, for Channel 5. She has co-created and an original 8 part TV drama series for RAI, now in production.
