    • Juan Calvo was born on May 22, 1892 in Onteniente, Valencia, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain. He was an actor, known for Marcelin, pain et vin (1955), Calabuig (1956) and La Tosca (1941). He died on March 7, 1962 in Madrid, Madrid, Spain.

  • Father of actors Armando Calvo and Manuel Calvo.
  • Juan Calvo sometimes appeared in film with his sons, like in "El Escándalo", "Espronceda" and "Los Últimos de Filipinas". Armando played the lead and Juan secondary roles. Armando and his brother Manolo made several movies together in Mexico, as "La Casa de la Troya", "Abismos de Amor", "La Vorágine" and "Acapulco".
  • Juan Calvo married Minerva Lespier, the daughter of a Puerto Rican journalist, in San Juan, P.R., during his first acting tour of Central and South America; subsequently, fathering actors Armando Calvo Lespier and Juan Manuel Calvo Lespier (aka Manuel or Manolo Calvo).
