Dolls, dolls, and more dolls! The horror genre is an ever-twisting blade that goes in deep when a good, and original concept is copied, replicated, and beaten over the head until it’s nothing more than a watered-down caricature. They say imitation is the biggest form of flattery, but are we so sure about that? Today I have an interesting Horror Movie Rip-off between two evil entities covered in rubber that cherish their higher gods and massacring anyone and everyone in their path. One that spawned countless sequels, tv shows, a cemented horror legacy, and worldwide notoriety, while the other I may have glanced at on the racks of my local blockbuster back in the day.

The second season of The Tourist is moving forward, and the cast is beginning to take shape.

Jamie Dornan, who headlined the series' first season, has closed a deal to return.

According to Deadline, production will commence in Dublin, Ireland, in April.

“I’m incredibly excited to continue the story with ‘The Tourist,’” said Dornan in a statement.

Dornan starred in the first season as a British man who found himself in the glowing red heart of the Australian outback being pursued by a vast tank truck trying to drive him off the road.

BBC has formally renewed the Bourne Identity-esque thriller for Season 2, with Dornan set to reprise his titular role as amnesia-stricken Elliot, per Deadline.

The inaugural six-episode season was released stateside via HBO Max, although a rep tells TVLine that the streamer is not involved in the Season 2 deal (that’s the aforementioned catch!).

Following the critical acclaim of the first season, BBC is moving forward with a second season of The Tourist, with Jamie Dornan and Danielle Macdonald set to return. The six-part thriller commissioned by the BBC in association with Stan and Zdf was created and written by Jack and Harry Williams and produced by Two Brothers Pictures in association with All3Media International. Shooting begins this April.

“The Tourist,” starring Jamie Dornan, won best series Tuesday at the Golden Nymphs Awards, handed out at the conclusion of the 61st Monte-Carlo Television Festival.

The show, created and written by Harry and Jack Williams, is a British thriller with comedy moments centering on the theme of identity. It was also given the best creation prize and the BetaSeries public prize.

Germany’s “Martha Liebermann,” a drama about a German-Jewish woman in Nazi-era Berlin standing up for her values while risking her life, won best TV film, and Thekla Carola Wied, who plays the titular character, won best actress.

Ulrich Thomsen, the lead from Nordic crime drama “Trom” won best actor. The show also received the jury special prize.

10. Harper: I expected a nice ballad or pop song from Harper and we got a hard rock singer. Only on “AGT” do we get this type of child singer. I guess they couldn’t buzz her with her Dad sitting there? I did not understand how she made it through to the next round, but apparently a good portion of social media was really digging this act.

On May 31st, “America’s Got Talent” returned with a spectacular two-hour premiere episode of its 17th season. Host Terry Crews welcomed series judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel back to the dais with performances from the first set of performance artists out of thousands that auditioned. The new season continued with the second wave of auditions on June 7 and continued Tuesday night with the third set of auditions on June 14.

As in the past, this season’s champion will take home the 1 million cash prize and the chance to showcase their talent as a headlining act in Las Vegas. The first set of auditions from the premiere was capped off by Terry’s Golden Buzzer selection, saxophonist Avery Dixon. Has “America’s Got Talent” found its next ventriloquist superstar? Terry Fator (Season 2) and Darci Lynne Farmer (Season 12) have already won the NBC reality TV show thanks to their hilarious talents voicing puppets, and now Jack Williams is hoping to join them. The Indianapolis resident will audition during the upcoming Tuesday, June 14 episode, but NBC has already released a sneak peek video of his performance (watch above).

In Dolly Dearest, American family Elliot and Marilyn Wade, along with their young children Jessica and Jimmy, have just relocated to Mexico, where Elliot has taken over a doll factory. What is this? Sex-oriented movies with believable psychodramatics, made by a committed artist with taste and talent? Joe Sarno’s pictures still aren’t suitable for grandma, but he’s way, way above the exploitation grindhouse competition of his day. His ’60s B&W pictures are not only watchable, they’re involving. Restored to pre-print condition, they’re — how can I best put this? — artistically respectable.
