As a Brit, I've always been fascinated by the huge array of regional dialects packed into a relatively small space on our islands. Every country has different accents, of course, but it's remarkable how an accent can change so dramatically in the U.K. over such short distances. Just listen to the difference between Scouse and Manc with only 35 miles separating Liverpool and Manchester. All our radically different accents provide fuel for endless banter, and everyone has their favorites and least favorites. Personally, I can listen to people from Newcastle, Yorkshire, and Wales talk all day, but I'm not a big fan of Essex (partly due to local rivalry as a Tractor Boy from Suffolk) and the Birmingham accent, or Brummie.

While the popular crime series may be over, there are a number of memorable Peaky Blinders quotes that will stay with fans forever. For six seasons, Peaky Blinders offered a gritty and thrilling period saga looking at the Shelby crime family and its infamous gang. While the show was filled with violence and brutality, it was often the dialogue that stole the show. Steven Knight's scripts never shy away from quick, sassy banter and cinematic lines among its characters, whether it be Thomas Shelby's brooding musings, Alfie's wild outbursts, or Aunt Polly's fiery comebacks.
Peaky Blinders came to an end in 2022, and while there is some hope for the story's continuation, the show left plenty of great moments that the fans can look back on, including the endless lines that remain quotable years later. From the epic monologues to the thoughtful observations to the rare moments of humor,...

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has shared new details about the highly-anticipated movie sequel to the original BBC crime drama, which ran on-air for six seasons from 2013-2022. The project is expected to be released on Netflix, after the streamer officially greenlit the film last June.

Sam Neill is reliving one of the “most difficult” scenes he’s ever had to film.
Neill portrayed Major Campbell in “Peaky Blinders,” who rapes Aunt Polly, played by late actress Helen McCrory. “Peaky Blinders” was created by showrunner Steven Knight, who is now set to write the latest “Star Wars” film and a “Vertigo” remake.
“Easily the most difficult bed scene I’ve ever done was in ‘Peaky Blinders.’ My character, the hideous Major Campbell, rapes Aunt Polly, played by Helen McCrory. It is deeply disturbing, and I was anxious about how we would go,” Neill wrote in his upcoming memoir “Did I Ever Tell You This?”
Neill continued, “For one thing, this was acting out a situation, a crime, utterly beyond my imagination…By the time we shot this I knew [co-star] Helen very well. We found the same things funny, I respected her deeply, and I think she felt the same about me.

Unlike many viewers, Cillian Murphy wasn't immediately enthralled by "Peaky Blinders." He didn't understand the show's name, felt it had a terrible title, found his haircut as Tommy Shelby rather alarming, and had a hard time imaging the series would catch on with a global audience. He has since spent a decade returning to the show year in and year out, exploring new chapters in Tommy's story, experiencing the character's hardships and tragedies, and bringing them to life on the small screen. "Peaky Blinders" transformed the Irish actor into a bonafide star — something that Murphy never expected nor wanted.
When you consider Murphy's overwhelming popularity, one might be surprised to realize the actor has managed to stay almost entirely away from the limelight when it comes to his personal life. He's built a life and a career on his own terms, he's stayed away from social media in order to better maintain his privacy,...

From the onset of "Peaky Blinders," we're shown how Cillian Murphy's Tommy is grappling with his deteriorating mental state, stemming from his struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder since his return from his time serving in the war. Throughout the series, we watch as Tommy's mental health turns for the worse, gets better, and worsens again. His inner turmoil from fighting in the First World War never ceases to exist; it overwhelms him repeatedly and threatens to seep into and impact his day-to-day life.
While other characters in "Peaky Blinders" aren't necessarily going through mental turmoil of identical gravity as, say, Tommy's, most characters are battling demons of their own in the hope that one day the path will lead them to some happiness. While the characters don't permanently lose hope to make things better, it was never the creator, Steven Knight's intention, for them to be happy.

In "Peaky Blinders," Cillian Murphy effortlessly leads the crime drama series as Tommy, the Shelby family patriarch and Peaky Blinders boss, while Helen McCrory's character Aunt Polly is the family's pragmatist; she believes in being realistic and is often Tommy's voice of reason. As for the other Shelby brothers, they've dedicated themselves to fulfilling Tommy's dreams for the family and rising to the top. Every character in "Peaky Blinders" is complex, layered and almost always wavering between the good and the bad. They're anti-heroes in their own right. Casting actors for a show where there's no good and bad guy, so to say, is no easy task, and you'd be surprised to learn which character was the toughest to cast.

Steven Knight's period crime-drama series "Peaky Blinders" is loosely based on the real-life story of the brutal Birmingham-based street gang of the same name. The characters in the show fight for authority and dominance, and the tussle for power has got many of them in trouble.
In "Peaky Blinders," ambition and ruthlessness form the very foundation of the values of the characters — from Tommy's standing as the intelligent, all-consuming antihero to his brother Arthur's impulsive, thrill-seeking and loyal persona — even the women in "Peaky Blinders" are as powerful and resourceful as their male counterparts. Season after season, members of the Shelby family have continued to expand their empire and spread their influence. When creator Steven Knight conceived the show, he wanted his female characters to be on par with the men — they both needed to be powerful and capable of asserting authority.

It might be easy to think that "Peaky Blinders" is a rip-roaring gangster story, exploring the rise (and likely fall) of Cillian Murphy's Tommy Shelby as leader of the most fearsome collection of petty thieves and bloodthirsty criminals in early 1900s Birmingham. It certainly is that, to be sure, but that description doesn't quite manage to do justice to the collection of fascinating characters caught up in the wake of Tommy's ceaseless ambitions to grow his organization from the mud-soaked grime of horse racing to the upper echelons of political influence in Parliament. No, it'd probably be more accurate to call this popular (and recently concluded) show a family drama.
None know that better than Sophie Rundle, who has portrayed Tommy's sister Ada Thorne since the inaugural season. Initially wanting nothing to do with her brother's illegal activities or even the family name itself, Ada has since grown into...

Warning: Spoilers for the final season of "Peaky Blinders" will follow.
From long-lost relative and apple of Aunt Polly's (Helen McCrory) eye to sworn enemy of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) on a relentless quest for vengeance, Finn Cole's Michael Gray was never quite the main villain of the final season of "Peaky Blinders" — that honor would undoubtedly go to Sam Claflin's fascist Sir Oswald Mosley — but he certainly posed the most immediate and personal threat to our Ptsd-ridden main "hero."
Since his first appearance back in season 2, Michael's rise within the ranks of the Peaky Blinders has been swift, though not without its bumps along...

Despite “Peaky Blinders” being centered on a gang in the 1900s with razor blades sewed into their caps, it’s the women – both on and off the screen – who are the sharpest of the bunch. Leading the pack is executive producer Caryn Mandabach, whose company Caryn Mandabach Productions owns and operates the Peaky Blinders IP. “I’m the studio, as we would say in America…. Pretend I’m Sony” she told WrapWomen during a recent Zoom interview.
But being the boss is a double-edged razor. On one end, Mandabach gets to oversee exciting projects like partnering with Bushmills Irish Whiskey on a special Peaky Blinders recipe. On the other, Mandabach must always keep her business cap on – no matter how tough the situation.
On April 16, 2021, during the production of Season 6, “Peaky Blinders” star Helen McCrory, who played Aunt Polly, passed away after privately battling cancer. Her tragic death presented Mandabach...

Spoiler Alert: This story includes details about Season 3 of Peaky Blinders.
The Steven Knight-created crime epic Peaky Blinders recently concluded its third season on BBC Two in the UK, while all six episodes were released on Netflix in the U.S. on May 31. This was arguably the strongest season yet for the saga of the Shelby clan; Deadline has called it “sheer TV poetry in motion.” Despite a rabid fan base in more than 160 countries, Peaky is still an Emmy outlier. Could this be the year the Caryn Mandabach Productions/Tiger Aspect drama cracks the TV Academy’s collective consciousness?
Cillian Murphy plays Tommy Shelby, the intense and conflicted war veteran who leads the gangster family and who this season suffered the death of his wife, Grace (Annabelle Wallis), after a short window of wedded bliss. Set in 1924, Season 3 built on the Shelby family having ascended into high-society from...
