  • Burnett met Rock Hudson in Malibu. Later, they became good friends. They liked to swim and sail.
  • After several separations and reconciliations, he broke up with actress wife Gia Scala on grounds of incompatibility and divorced her in September of 1970. The following year he had to obtain a restraining order against his clinically-depressed wife in order to prevent her from harassing and striking him.
  • Married actress Gia Scala (whom he met while filming Prenez garde à la flotte (1957)) in 1957. They divorced in 1970. In 1971, he married actress Barbara Anderson who played the blonde cop on TV's L'homme de fer (1967) series.
  • Later became a successful stockbroker.
  • After his ex-wife Gia Scala died from a drug overdose in 1972; he was one of the pallbearers at her funeral. Don's father also attended with his second wife. Don's mother, Rose, had passed away April 6, 1959.
  • Delivered the eulogy at the 1989 memorial service for his friend and Le tyran de Syracuse (1962) (aka "Damon and Pythias") co-star, Guy Williams.
  • Appeared in Italian pictures. He starred as the legendary hero in Le triomphe de Robin des Bois (1962) and later co-starred with actor and good friend Guy Williams in Le tyran de Syracuse (1962) as Pythias. His actress/wife Gia was originally set for a co-starring role in the film but was replaced.
  • Ex-brother-in-law of Tina Scala.
