Father Martin Burke was a prizefighter and occasional actor who was a sparring partner of heavyweight champ Jack Dempsey.

Both television shows for which he's most famous, he was a replacement for the lead. In Naked City he replaced James Franciscus, and in 12 O'Clock High he replaced Robert Lansing.

Nancy Malone gave the eulogy at his funeral.

Survived by his 3 children from his first marriage: Paula Burke-Lopez, Paul Brian Burke and Dina Burke-Shawkat.

His mother, Santa Maria (Palermo), was of Italian descent. His father, Martin Joseph Burke, was of Irish ancestry.

Biography states Paul Burke joined the cast of Naked City as partner of Lt. Mike Parker played by Horace McMahon, when in fact Burke's Partner was Detective Frank Arcaro played by Harry Bellaver. The character Lt. Mike Parker was their superior during the rest of the series.

Father-in-law of Tony Shawkat.

Born on exactly the same date as Norman Jewison, who directed him in "The Thomas Crown Affair".
