Andrea has worked as a film producer, writer and development executive in Australia, Hollywood and South Africa. Her film The Jammed broke box office records, with a screen average of $48,000 and a 20-week theatrical run on 42 screens. It won a sweep of awards including Best Script, Best Music and Best Film at the 2007 IF (Inside Film) Awards, as well as seven AFI (now AACTA) Award nominations, and inspired action against Human Trafficking.
Andrea has a passion for social justice and cultural expression, for encouraging diversity of voices and opportunities in the areas of gender, age, economic, cultural, ethnic, and disability, and has a deep care for the environment and animals.
These values are innate, as well as having been informed by her colorful and adventurous life: being an immigrant who 'fled' apartheid South Africa, having spent her adult years living across 3 continents, having worked for years on African wildlife and conservation films, having heart-fully supported her husband's transition to female, and for a few years, miraculously recovering from a life-threatening brain injury.
Andrea holds a Master of Screen Art and Business, and through her research into information and data sharing in the film industry, has published works to promote collaboration, co-opertition and knowledge sharing in the screen industry.
Alongside developing film projects and working as a Mentor and Executive producer, Andrea works as Course Convener and Lead facilitator at Compton School, Australia's leading Business School for the creative industries.
