In the mid-1980s, Buchfellner said she ended her career as a photo model and erotic actress. From then on she only appeared as a television and stage actress.

In the state and district elections on October 8, 2023, Ursula Buchfellner is running as a non-party candidate on the Upper Bavarian nominations of the Mensch Umwelt Tierschutz party (Animal Protection Party).

Her father was an alcoholic. For the first 3 years the family lived in a post-war shelter for the poor, until the "Hasenbergl" housing projects were built. Their apartment had running water and a toilet, but shared a bath on the floor.

She was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month for its October 1979 issue. Her centerfold was photographed by Peter Weissbrich.

Away from her career, Buchfellner completed a course in cosmetics, became a children's sports teacher and finally an astrologer after taking seminars in psychology.

In 1977, a photographer of Playboy asked her if she was interested to become a playmate. After researching what this entailed, she agreed. When media wrote about her, the baker's wife (from the bakery where she had a training spot) asked her to leave the bakery.

In November 1985 she became the first Playmate to go on to appear in Penthouse magazine.

She starred mainly in European B-movies such as Devil Hunter (1980) and Sadomania (1981).

International acting and modeling careers followed Buchfellner's Playboy appearance. She was sometimes credited as Uschi Buchfellner, Ursula Fellner, Ulla Maris and Ursula Maris.

The model turned down an offer from the men's magazine Penthouse for $80,000 in 1979 because she didn't like the way the photos were taken.

After the photo shoot in Playboy , which was rewarded with around 4,000 DM, the men's magazine appeared in December 1977 (in the German edition) with a photo series of Buchfellner under the title "Ursula's sweet things". It later emerged that she was only 16 years old at the time the photos were taken. She was insulted by those around her; Her own grandmother, who lived in her parents' apartment, also turned away from her.

In 2015 she published her autobiography, in which she reported, among other things, child abuse at the age of seven and the years of difficulties that followed.

She stated that, unlike many playmates, she saved most of her money so she was able to buy an apartment in Munich.

When her mother had twins, she and another sibling were sent to a children's home during the week and saw their family only on weekends. She has described how hunger was a constant experience especially towards the end of the month when money got tight.

After finishing 9th grade (Hauptschulabschluss) her mother found her a training spot in a bakery, also because she was allowed to bring home remnants in a paper bag.

She also featured in renowned German television serials, like Derrick.

The wages she earned as a model allowed her to invite her older sister for a fried chicken dinner every day.

Buchfellner also was the Playmate for the December 1977 issue of Playboy's German edition, being only 16 at the time when the photos were taken (she was 17 in relation to the edition in which her photos were published).

Ursula Buchfellner was in a relationship with Berlin businessman and former nightclub owner Rolf Eden for seven years. After their separation, Eden and Buchfellner remained friends until his death.
