The MonsterVerse and the DC Universe are set to collide in a sequel that will once again see the Justice League face off against the biggest and baddest Titans. Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong rocked both worlds in 2023 and an upcoming follow-up promises a much more intense crossover.
This June, DC Comics and Legendary Comics are uniting for Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2, which will reunite the original miniseries’ Brian Buccellato and Christian Duce. In this new story, Amanda Waller utilizes Task Force X to help her develop hybrid Titans in order to ward off future attacks.
To stop Waller, the Justice League travels to the MonsterVerse’s Hollow Earth, where they once again discover monsters like Godzilla and Kong. This adventure not only promises to have much bigger stakes than its predecessor, but it will also feature ‘titanized’ versions of iconic DC Universe heroes and villains.

DC's Green Lantern Corps has recruited some bizarre members, but 2024 went further than ever as an iconic pop-culture figure got their own Power Ring. Superhero stories often include ambitious crossovers, but even in that context, the new Gl was an impressive fusion of pop culture franchises.
King Kong Became a Green Lantern in 2024 The DC/Monsterverse Crossover Unleashed the Ultimate Fusion
2024 saw King Kong become an official Green Lantern, as the iconic Monsterverse Titan got his own superpowers. The Flash has one of the most iconic rogues' galleries in the DC Universe, but they're often underrated compared to the likes of Batman or Superman's villains. With the Fastest Man Alive as their main adversary, it's no wonder that they so often lose. Superman may be colloquially known as "The Big Blue Boy Scout," but sometimes, he can be straight up villainous. Sure, he's saved Metropolis (and the world) more times than any individual can count, however, that doesn't excuse his moments of cruelty and authoritarian-brand of justice.
The most interesting aspect of Superman as a character derives from his immortality on Earth. Short of using Kryptonite, our measly human-made weapons never account for much damage against the Man of Steel. The only thing stopping Clark Kent/Superman from taking over the world or causing serious harm is his sense of righteousness.
While Supes, for the most part, doesn't allow his ego or greed to corrupt him, he's certainly made some questionable decisions across his nearly-90 year history. As we prepare for the cinematic return of Superman with James Gunn's "Superman: Legacy," let's remind ourselves that even our most morally straight hero falters.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Godzilla X Kong: The Hunted! Godzilla is famously the King of the Monsters in MonsterVerse canon, with Kong being perhaps the only other Titan who can rival that position (though they seem to have come to a peaceful understanding in Godzilla X Kong). Sp Media Group, Republic Pictures and Paramount Global Distribution present The Painter, combining a high-octane spy-thriller with a complex family drama featuring the talents of Jon Voight, Charlie Weber, Maidson Bailey and Marie Avgeropoulos. Directed by Kimani Ray Smith, who exploded onto the festival circuit in 2011 with the short film Suffer in 2011, and has since directed two feature films and a handful of TV episodes, including Van Helsing and Fort Salem. Awkwardly arriving the very same day as “The Bricklayer,” with Aaron Eckhart as an ex-CIA agent with the titular dayjob, “The Painter” has Charlie Weber as ex-cia agent who has taken up … well, you can guess. This more humbly scaled actioner likewise finds its uber-tough erstwhile operative reluctantly forced back into activity amid a conspiratorial hail of bullets. From that shared starting point, Brian Buccellato’s script finds its own path. But neither he nor director Kimani Ray Smith locate much credibility or suspense in an uninspired tale that also features Jon Voight, as well as Madison Bailey from the Netflix series “The Outer Banks.” Lacking in most departments beyond decent pacing and adequate technical polish, this forgettable thriller launches in limited U.S. theaters Jan. 5, and on digital platforms Jan. 9.

Superman's humanity almost cost him his life, as his compassion for others led him to take the damage that Godzilla doled out. While equally matched in strength, Godzilla's willingness to destroy anything in his path gives him an advantage over Superman's sacrificial nature.

Reading Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, the new intercompany crossover between DC Comics and Legendary Films, is like watching a 12-year-old win a $25,000 shopping spree: toys joyfully piled atop each other while you wonder how they’re all going to fit in his room. Talking with Jlgk writer Brian Buccellato, one gets the sense that writing it is the same way. “The struggle is we have 30 pages per issue to fit the story in, and the big, giant monsters, we want to give them space,” he tells Den of Geek magazine. “How do I navigate the big moments and the opportunities for Christian [Duce, artist on Jlgk] to [draw] awesome pinup action shots with getting everybody in there and making sure they all get their due?”
The answer to Buccellato’s question is, apparently, to shout Yolo and keep escalating. The book reads like a gleeful “yes, and” exercise. Toyman...

Godzilla's strength has been officially confirmed to be greater than Superman's, as shown in Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #2 preview. This feat of strength proves that Godzilla can easily defeat other Kryptonians, such as Supergirl and General Zod. Green Lantern jokingly believes he could beat Flash in a footrace if they didn't use their superpowers, sparking an interesting debate. Hal's background as a highly trained Air Force pilot and Flash's less active lifestyle as a forensic scientist may give Hal an advantage in a non-powered race. While Flash is still officially the Fastest Man Alive, the idea of Barry being a fast runner without his Speed Force connection is an intriguing one.
Spoilers for Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong #1!In DC Comics, Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern and Barry Allen’s Flash are superheroic best buds with a penchant for poking fun at one another while one-upping each other in ways that are increasingly fun to watch play out. And although Flash is undoubtedly the Fastest Man Alive, bar none, Hal has just revealed the only situation where he thinks he could beat Barry in a one-on-one footrace!
