Jirí Brozek(I)

Jiri Brozek is a Czech film editor. He was born in 1947 in Roudnice nad Labem. In 1973 he graduated in editing from FAMU in Prague. After school he joined the Barrandov Film Studio, where he worked until 1991. Editor Jirina Lukesova recommended him to directors Jiri Menzel and Jaroslav Papousek, with whom Brozek made his first independent film Finally We Understand Each Other (1976). Brozek edited more than 100 feature films, dozens of television productions and a number of television series during his career. He worked with Ladislav Smoljak, Karel Kachyna, Jiri Menzel and Vera Chytilova. He won the Czech film prize Czech Lion nine times and the Slovak film prize Sun in the Net twice.
