Goodbye For Now, But She’ll Be Back

The well-known Hallmark actress has departed from the widely recognized Peacock soap opera, but she has already completed filming for several guest appearances. Alison Sweeney’s recent stint in Salem has wrapped up, marking the return of her character, Sami Brady, to her home.

However, there’s fantastic news for fans, as she has filmed two confirmed returns to the show.

Like the 1970s, the '90s were a great decade for disaster films. In addition to films like "Deep Impact," "Armageddon," "Independence Day," "Dante's Peak," and "Volcano," there was, of course, "Twister." The Jan de Bont film followed a storm-chasing couple on the verge of divorce, chasing one of the worst outbreaks of tornados in the history of Oklahoma. Though the film is now almost three decades old, it holds up!

There are lots of reasons why the movie works so well. One major factor was de Bont's insistence on practical effects. "We dropped those combines hanging from helicopters onto the road as the car was driving, which, of course, makes for the best reaction you can get from the actors, because it's goddamned real," he told Vulture. "They really fall from the sky, and it is not like a little fall."

Another major aspect of the film's success was its cast.

Four teams battled to win The Challenge: All Stars Rivals in the final, but ultimately, Road Rules stars-turned-rivals Adam Larson and Steve Meinke captured first place.

The duo outlasted teams including experienced finalists Nicole Zanatta with Melissa Reeves, and former show winners Frank Sweeney Fox and Sam McGinn.

Host Tj Lavin then sprang one of those infamous twists on the winners. He made them enter separate rooms and choose whether they thought their teammate would split or steal the $250,000 prize for first place.

Luckily for them, they both said they would split the prize money, meaning they got to do just that, rather than compete in a playoff to determine a solo winner.

The surprises didn’t end there, though. As The Challenge: All Stars credits rolled, Adam appeared in a confessional interview with a message for his castmate and girlfriend Averey Tressler.

The Challenge All Stars: Rivals came to a dramatic end on Wednesday when Adam Larson and Steve Meinke edged out Da'Vonne Rogers and Shane Landrum by just one star to win the $250,000 grand prize. Frank Fox and Sam McGinn finished in third place, with Melissa Reeves and Nicole Zanatta in fourth.

For Steve, winning The Challenge was redemption after he "screwed the pooch" in All Stars 4 by misreading instructions and allowing Laurel Stucky to beat him to the finish line. "It was absolutely embarrassing," he tells Gold Derby (see the video interview above). "If you know me, it's the most Steve way to lose something like this. Not against someone else, but myself."

It was a lesson learned for the 48-year-old Challenge vet. This season, Steve says he was hyperaware of the rules and listened to host Tj Lavin's directions with extreme concentration — even if it made him "look constipated.

Days of our Lives is returning to its roots after years of devil possessions, fake soaps, and other crazy stories.

Last summer, news broke that Days’ head writer, Ron Carlivati, was out, and Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford were in as head writers.

However, thanks to the advanced filming schedule for the daytime drama, viewers have yet to see the new regime’s episodes air.

That all changes next week, when Jeanne and Paula’s first episode as head writers premieres on Wednesday, April 23.

Ahead of MTV airing the finale for The Challenge: All Stars Rivals, Mark Long addressed the possible fate of the spin-off series.

Long, who initially debuted on MTV’s Road Rules franchise, became strongly associated with the cause to bring All Stars to life, and his vision ultimately worked.

The initial seasons featured the return of many of the MTV OGs that fans were interested in seeing again, including Trishelle Cannatella, Teck “Money” Holmes, Syrus Yarbrough, Ruthie Alcaide, Beth Stolarczyk, and Katie Cooley.

Many of The Challenge fans have a love-and-hate view of former winner Turabi “Turbo” Camkiran due to his unique personality and funny antics.

After several seasons off, he returned for MTV’s Ride or Dies and ended up butting heads with multiple castmates, including his former friend Nany Gonzalez.

That led to a quick exit via elimination, but Turbo is back again, teamed up with Nany on The Challenge: All Stars Rivals.

While he mainly seemed mellow throughout the first half of the season, he unleashed on his castmates in a recent episode.

Turbo chose to take over a living room area in the All Stars house and then complained about his castmates leaving a mess and being noisy when he was trying to sleep.

Among them were his good friend, Leroy Garrett, and Leroy’s teammate, Ride or Dies winner Devin Walker.

During the season, things took a crazy turn when Dario suggested to the daily challenge winners that they send Devin and Leroy into elimination to get rid of a strong team.

That information got back to Devin, who relayed it to Leroy, resulting in a blowup between Devin and Medrano.

Doug III (Peyton Meyer) disappointed us in Friday’s episode. We thought he was feeling appropriately remorseful, and maybe he is, but then why would he gaslight Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes)? Julie told him about the letter she received from her brother, Steven Olson (Stephen Schnetzer). He swore on the memory of Tom and Alice that he didn’t steal the necklace, and she believed him.

The first-ever hour-long predominately Black soap will premiere on Monday, February 24.

News broke last year that Beyond the Gates was in the works, and it’s all coming together.

Hank Northrop is joining the Salem fold. The daytime newcomer is the son of the late Wayne Northrop, the original actor who played Roman Brady on Days, and Lynn Herring, who starred as Lucy on General Hospital. His character, which has yet to be revealed, will debut later this year. According to TV Insider, Northrop will work closely with James Reynolds’ Abe, who was best friends with Roman during their early years on the soap.

Days of Our Lives is continuing to bring in the big guns to help celebrate its 60th Anniversary. This time, it’s Jennifer and Jack Deveraux.

Deadline has confirmed that Matthew Ashford (Jack) and Melissa Reeves (Jennifer) are back on the soap’s Burbank, CA set this week to participate in the anniversary episodes. They will reunite with their on-screen son JJ, played by Casey Moss, who recently posted a picture of the three of them together on his Instagram story.

“Couldn’t be more grateful to be part of such a legendary family,” he wrote with the hashtag #thehortons.

Ashford and Reeves, who have dipped in and out of the soap for years, will re-appear on the Peacock sudser in June and continue to recur throughout the year. They are also expected to participate in the soap’s 60th anniversary photo this week.

The newest season of The Challenge: All Stars features the most unique cast so far, but some of their former castmates aren’t too impressed.

Recent remarks from Cory Wharton and Paulie Calafiore blasted many of the All Stars Rivals cast members after seeing them in action- or their inaction.

As of this writing, only two episodes of All Stars 5 have aired on MTV. Episode 2 featured a daily challenge involving heights.

Viewers have seen multiple cast members struggle to participate in those tasks, including OGs Katie Cooley and Darrell Taylor.

Therefore, it might not be surprising that Katie did not participate in the second All Stars Rivals daily.

However, the surprise for viewers was how many cast members participated in and completed that daily challenge.

Melissa Reeves revealed she’s unsure if she’ll be able to watch all of The Challenge: All Stars 5 season and encouraged fans to “please be nice.”

The former Total Madness finalist returned for MTV’s Battle For a New Champion, where she ultimately lost to former castmate Tori Deal in an elimination.

Now she’s part of the All Stars Rivals season, which recently premiered on MTV, featuring cast members paired with castmates with whom they have a rival or feud.

Melissa is Nicole Zanatta’s All-Stars partner. They hooked up during a past season of the show, but nothing further developed between them.
