Rickey Boyd is an artist and puppeteer. As a kid, growing up in Adairsville , Georgia, he aspired to work with Jim Henson or Disney as an artist and performer. After college (BFA Art and Theatre at Shorter College, Rome, Ga.) he produced local kid's shows with his college buddies starring his homemade puppets. This led to an audition with Jim Henson which landed him with a job as a puppeteer
During his time working with Henson Rickey performed on various TV shows and films including "Sesame Street", "Dinosaurs", "Animal Jam", "Muppets from Space", "Muppet Wizard of Oz" and "Teenage Mutant Nina Turtles" films 1 and 2.
Additional puppet work includes The Nashville Network (The Basswackers) as well as the "In Touch Ministries" streaming series "WOndermore" and Brentwood Studio's "The Slugs and Bugs Show".
Most recently he can be seen performing Jasper the dog in "A Wonderful Day with Mabel Maclay" on Bentkey, and in the upcoming "Adventures of Iggy and Mr. Kirk" from Brave Books as Culture the Vulture which will begin streaming in 2025.
Aside from puppeteering Rickey was an Emmy award winning artist and creative director for his work with the talented crew at Magnetic Dreams Animation in Nashville (now Armada Content).
He lives outside Nashville with his family.
