Philip Boston was born in Cape Town, South Africa and raised in a small town three hours south of Perth in Western Australia. Philip was very active in the arts growing up. He studied at the Mount Lawley Academy of Performing Arts in Western Australia and also spent several years as a highly praised production designer in commercials and music videos before making the natural transition into directing. He has since been labeled a 'Filmmaker to Watch' in Shoot Magazine and has won multiple awards including a Silver Clio for a Samsonite spot that he wrote and directed and a Gold Promax award for the Grey's Anatomy Season Finale Promo "One Shot".

Philip's interest in direction started in front of the camera as an actor on the set of a commercial featuring Sharon Stone that was directed by Tony Scott. Meeting Tony Scott made a lasting impression on him and in his early 20's he decided to leave acting to pursue a career in directing film. Philip's career behind the camera started out in the art department. His keen eye for direction and design helped him as he quickly climbed the ranks to the role of production designer. He designed spots for clients such as Nike and Dunlop and also art directed music videos for Mandy Moore, DMX, Ice Cube, Genuine, Will Smith and Britney Spears. During this time Philip also art directed two motion pictures and a television series. Philip's work as an art director has been widely recognized and his body of work stands amongst the top in his field.

While art directing, Philip began shooting spec commercials and his turn for direction did not go unnoticed. His efforts lead to interest from Quentin Tarantino and Lawrence Bender's production company to which he was soon signed on as a commercial director. Philip's talent for capturing action in commercials was quickly noticed by executives at Warner Brothers and he was hired to direct the feature film documentary The Billabong Odyssey. The film went on to achieve worldwide acclaim from international critics and audiences alike.

After directing his first feature film Philip returned to directing commercials. Since that time he has directed campaigns for clients as wide ranging as Samsung, Hornitos, Do It Yourself Network, ABC, Atari, Nike, Energizer, Red Bull and Garmin to name a few.

As well as directing commercials for advertising agencies, Philip has also helped some clients to create and produce their campaigns. Philip has lent his multifaceted talent for taking a concept from concept to completion for clients such as DIY Network, ABC, Hornitos, Red Bull and Denso.

Philip's work as a director on commercials and feature films has received multiple awards and accolades worldwide.
