MGM+’s upcoming drama series “The Westies” has rounded out its main cast with the addition of four series regulars.

Variety has learned exclusively that Allen Leech, Hamish Allan-Headly, Vincent Walsh, and Hilary McCormack have all been cast in the crime drama. They will appear alongside previously announced cast members J.K. Simmons, Tom Brittney, Titus Welliver, Jessica Frances Dukes, Stanley Morgan and Sarah Bolger. Production is currently underway.

The show is based on the true story of the titular New York City gang of the same name. The official description of the series states:

Titus Welliver's upcoming crime drama series The Westies has added two more great actors to its ensemble cast, including one of the key stars from the critically acclaimed biker gang drama Mayans M.C., a spinoff of Sons of Anarchy.

Per Variety, The Westies – which will stream exclusively on MGM+ – has cast Sarah Bolger of Mayans M.C. acclaim and Stanley Morgan. Bolger notably played Emily Thomas in all 50 episodes across five seasons of Mayans M.C.

Bolger and Morgan are the latest additions to the cast of The Westies, which is created by Chris Brancato and Michael Panes. They join Welliver of Bosch stardom, Ozark star Jessica Frances Dukes, and Oscar winner J.K. Simmons.

Titus Welliver is stepping away from the streets of Los Angeles and into the blood-soaked back alleys of 1980s Hell’s Kitchen — and now he’s got company. The Westies, the upcoming MGM+ crime drama from Narcos creator Chris Brancato and Michael Panes, has officially added Sarah Bolger and Stanley Morgan as series regulars. Sarah Bolger is starring in the horror film Nervous, Deadline has learned.

Production is currently underway in and around Seoul, South Korea. The movie will be mostly in English but also includes some Korean.

The psychological horror story follows a woman spiraling into a seductive nightmare beyond her control as she navigates a troubled marriage and disorientating cultural terrain in the Korean countryside.

Irish star Sarah Bolger has teamed with South Korea’s Go Ah-sung and rising actor Sungsoo Yune for Nervous, a psychological horror feature that began principal photography this week in Seoul. Deadline first reported the casting, noting the project’s tight security and on-location shoot in Korea’s capital.

Director Abner Pastoll, who teased the production on social media with a brief set video, is steering the English- and Korean-language picture after successes with Road Games and A Good Woman Is Hard to Find. Pastoll, a British-South African filmmaker now splitting time between London and Seoul, called the movie “a claustrophobic nightmare about isolation in an unfamiliar place” in a recent Substack update to followers.

It's an incredible fantasy-horror work with stunning art by Gabriel Rodríguez and a compelling narrative that manages to be both whimsical and mature, with young characters that act like kids yet are not looked down upon or treated as lesser than the adults. With founders Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, masterminds of such low-budget horror as “Resolution,” “Spring,” and “The Endless,” now entrenched in the Marvel machine, their Rustic Films is calling in the reserves. “Descendent” writer/director Peter Cilella has been involved with multiple Rustic productions as an actor, going all the way back to “Resolution” in 2012. Now, he’s the latest member of the Los Angeles-based production company’s roster — he’s preceded by Michael Felker, whose “Things Will Be Different” debuted under the Rustic banner last year — to get his turn in the big chair, so to speak.

At the film’s SXSW premiere, Cilella described his feature directorial debut as being about “depression, anxiety, and aliens.” And the film’s priorities do unfold in that order. For this reason, Crush is more perceptive than its familiar pitch might suggest.

Director Malik Bader and writer Sonny Mallhi combined the tangibility of horror with the psychological intrigue and criminality of thrillers, as is evident from their film’s opening scene. To show it wasn’t playing around, Crush does something that even most horror films would shy away from; it bumps off a child in the first few minutes. Murders him, in fact. The death in question follows a casual chat between young friends, whose adorable activity of “penny for your thoughts” turns deeply ugly.

This year’s SXSW Film Festival, taking place in Austin, TX, has unveiled its lineup this afternoon and it’s another insanely packed year for horror premieres.

While the Midnighter section is dedicated to the genre lovers, SXSW 2025 has filled its Headliner section and beyond with buzzy, highly anticipated titles including Flying Lotus‘s sci-fi horror movie Ash, Christopher Landon‘s ode to Brian De Palma in Drop, and A24’s Death of a Unicorn. Once Upon a Time star Jamie Chung looks back on Mulan's ending and near-relationship with Aurora. Starting in season 2 of the ABC fantasy series, Chung played Mulan, offering a fresh take on the beloved Disney character. Her storyline primarily intersected with that of Aurora (Sarah Bolger), with the two embarking on a quest in early season 2 that resulted in Mulan developing feelings for the princess. However, before she could confess the truth, Aurora revealed she and Prince Phillip (Julian Morris) were expecting a baby. The greatest female vampires in television and movie history include blood-sucking women from Swedish horror films, classic cult TV shows, and critically acclaimed independent movies. Per Deadline, the newly-added stars include Sarah Bolger from A Good Woman Is Hard To Find, Ted Lasso's Nick Mohammed, The Sandman's Jenna Coleman, Rudi Dharmalingam from Role Play, Andor's Kyle Soller alongside August Diehl and Martina Gedeck.

Studiocanal and The Picture Company’s new psychological thriller Control is starting up production with its star James McAvoy. Deadline has also revealed the list of actors that will be rounding out the cast for the film. Julianne Moore has been added to the film, starring opposite McAvoy.
