    • Michael Bogdanov was born on December 15, 1938 in Neath, Glamorgan, Wales, UK. He was a director and writer, known for A Light in the Valley (1998), The Sherman Plays (1993) and The Thorn Birds (2009). He was married to Ulrike Engelbrecht and Patricia Ann Warwick. He died on April 16, 2017 in Paros, Greece.

  • He was awarded his second Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 1990 (1989 season) for Best Director of a Play for "The War of the Roses" produced for television by Portman Productions broadcast on BBC Two.
  • He and Michael Pennington were awarded the Special Award at the 1987 London Critics Circle Theatre Award for "The Henry Trilogy".
  • An Associate Member of RADA.
  • He was nominated for 1997 Joseph Jefferson Award for Director of a Play for "Timon of Athens" at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater in Chicago, Illinois.
  • His first Laurence Olivier Award was in 1979 for his legendary Royal Shakespeare Company production of The Taming of the Shrew which starred Jonathan Pryce.
