    • David Bloom has worked as an actor in film, television, and radio since 1980 but he is primarily known as a theatre artist. He is a playwright, director, dramaturg, producer, and performer.

      Film and TV appearances include: 'X-Files', 'Supernatural', 'Psyche', 'Stargate SG-1' and 'Stargate: Atlantis', 'Once Upon A Time', 'iZombie', and 'Under The Bridge' as well as such films as 'Shooter', 'Okja', the Academy Award winning 'Rainbow War', the indie classic 'The Reflecting Skin', and numerous Hallmark projects. He has performed in dozens of radio plays for the Canadian Broadcasting Company.

      Favourite theatre acting projects include 'Seventeen' (Western Gold Theatre), in which veteran actors play the roles of teenagers, 'Transmissions' for Chrysalis/Proximity Arts, 'The Designated Mourner' for Felix Culpa, and the premiere of Governor-General's Award-winning play 'Unity 1918' for Touchstone Theatre. Acting, directing and fight choreography have taken him across the country, including work at The Theatre Festival of the Americas, The Shaw Festival, Manitoba Theatre Centre, The Citadel, and almost every company in British Columbia.

  • Bloom's play 'Revenge' was produced by Felix Culpa, under the direction of James Fagin Tait and was nominated for a Jessie Richardson Award for best original play. His plays have also been performed by Green Thumb, Studio 58, Felix Culpa, Carousel, Axis Theatre, Canadian Phoenix and the University of British Columbia.
  • For many years he choreographed fights for projects ranging from Shakespeare to opera to cabaret to modern drama.
  • He has run the Solo Show program at theatre school Studio 58 since 2001, overseeing the creation of more than 300 one-person shows.
  • He was a performer in workshops on the original operas 'Lillian Alling' composed by John Estacio, libretto by John Murrell, and 'Naomi's Road' (from Joy Kanagawa's novel) composed by Ann Hodges, libretto by Ramona Luengen (but, no, he can't sing to save his life).
