Michael Reilly Burke in Ted Bundy (2002)
The Messy Exploitation Of 2002’s ‘Ted Bundy’ [Murder Made Fiction Podcast]
Michael Reilly Burke in Ted Bundy (2002)
With the Ted Bundy primer covered off (listen), it’s time for Jenn and I to dig into our first Ted Bundy adaptation.

Writer/director Matthew Bright is…an acquired taste. The man behind the Freeway films (which Trace Thurman and I have covered on Horror Queers) has a tendency to blur the boundaries of “good taste” with his mix of comedy, violence, sex and exploitation.

This is certainly applicable to Ted Bundy (2002), which Bright co-wrote with Stephen Johnston. The film is part of a glut of fictionalized true crime films of the early aughts.

In the case of Ted Bundy, there’s a *partial* attempt at covering the real story. Aside from Bundy, all of the names have been changed, but several key incidents, including the Lake Sammamish double murder, as well as the attempted mall abduction, are recreated here.

Unfunny Trailer for Weed Comedy 'Fourth Grade' with William Baldwin
Image
"Your daughter always has red eyes!" "Doesn't your child have memory problems?" Gravitas has unveiled an official trailer for a wild, weed comedy called Fourth Grade, from a Brazilian director named Marcelo Galvão. This was made in the US and after premiering at one fest in 2021 hasn't been released until now. When a brick of weed is found in a fourth-grade classroom, the students' parents gather in an emergency meeting full of accusations and intrigue. Uproarious chaos will quickly follow after some of them agree to share a joint. In the process, fragile and obscure secrets are revealed, and perspectives begin to shift... The weed problem is exposed as hypocrisy, and heartfelt truths & camaraderie blossom. Of course. The film stars William Baldwin, Teri Polo, Mena Suvari, Boti Bliss, Ben Begley, Challen Cates, and Roland Kickinger. This looks so bad, surprise surprise folks, but at least they start smoking up and letting loose.

Calleigh (Emily Procter) and Ryan (Jonathan Togo) answer a 911 call and give chase to a suspect. Think this is the first in a chase scene for Calleigh. I'm sure the heels of her boots kept changing, everytime the shots were replaced with her stuntwoman. Calleigh finds the suspect in the swimming pool, pretending to be swimming but the pool water turns red from the blood on his pants. Horatio (David Caruso) joins them in the chase and his stuntman was so obvious from the back. Can't beat CSI:ny for chase scenes! Horatio comments that "maybe he's still here." The boy denies killing the girl but he's caught out since no one mentioned any girl as Calleigh tells him. The news reports the death of Summer Davenport. The suspect, Zach (Eric Jungmann) who is homeless, says he climbed in through an open window and never saw her. Tripp (Rex Linn) says...
