Roy Black in Ein Schloß am Wörthersee (1990)
He attended secondary school in Augsburg and completed his Abitur. Meanwhile, he taught himself to play the guitar and performed for the first time in 1960 with his beat band "Roy Black and his Canons". The record producer Hans Bertram provided Roy Black with studio recordings, who switched from the beat to the softer pop music. Black gave up his business studies, took acting lessons and devoted himself exclusively to his show career. Black's first singles such as "My Little Girl", "Sweet Darling Mine" and "Darling my love" were not successful. He switched from English to German and from rock'n'roll to German hits. It wasn't until the mid-1960s that his career took off and the hits "You're not alone", "Ganz in Weiß", "Put your heart in my hands", "It's nice to be in the world", "That Girl Carina" and others.

By 1974, Roy Black had sold around 10 million singles and around 1.5 million albums. He was awarded five gold records, as well as numerous awards from various radio stations. His career as an actor was also successful and his films became box office hits. Roy Black impressed in twelve laugh and music films until 1974, including alongside Uschi Glas in "Always Trouble with the Timpanists", "Our Doctor is the Best", "Help, I Love Twins" and "When My Darling Hits the Timpani". ". The entertainment films were always accompanied by his musical interludes. In 1974 Roy Black married the model Silke Vagts. After that his career collapsed. His records stopped selling and his theater tour "Why Are You Lying, Cherie?" were less successful. Black separated from his producer Bertram and took a break for two years. With producer Ralph Siegel he started a successful comeback in 1976 and made it to the top of the charts with "Love as You Like".

Black then also worked with Wolfgang Kaminski. In 1978, Roy Black took first place in the hit parade and started a tour through the GDR. He was the first artist from the West to have a tour approved by the GDR regime. Further chart positions followed and in April 1979 Black began his North American tour. He played in Toronto, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle and Chicago. He was divorced from his wife in November 1985. He began drinking again after previous alcohol problems. The LP "Herzblut" was released and was unable to build on previous successes; it only sold around 30,000 copies. In May 1986, there was a scandal on the television show "Na sowas-Extra" when Roy Black collapsed and had to be taken to a clinic. A month later, two new heart valves were inserted in Munich. Roy Black had to slow down from this point on and only returned to the stage in Berlin in December. In July 1987 he had great success with his songs again and Black started an extensive trip to Mallorca.

In 1989 he celebrated his film comeback in the TV series "Ein Schloß am Wörthersee". It became one of his most successful roles. Black played the hotel director "Lenni Berger" and became one of the most popular actors on German television alongside actors such as Uschi Glas and Pierre Brice. He also found stability again in his private life and met Carmen Böning, who gave birth to their daughter Natalie. On May 2, 1990, Roy's father, Georg Höllerich, took his own life at the age of 72. In the same year, Roy Black took over the patronage of the children's heart aid. With titles like "A little bit of tenderness", "Like a star on the horizon", "Ask Maria" and "I dream of myself with you" he was again in the hit parades.

Since filming for the production "A Castle on Lake Wörthersee" had not yet been completed, Uschi Glas took on the leading role in the series. In 1999 the CD "The Wandering Preacher" was released with earlier recordings that had not yet been released.
