Film Review: Bhagwan Bharose (2023) by Shiladitya Bora
Image
Communal violence has been an issue all countries have been facing for centuries, which is, however, somewhat more intense in India still, where the clashes between the Hindus and the Muslims have resulted in a number of victims through the years. In “Bhagwan Bharose”, Shiladitya Bose tries to find out how the intolerance that leads to such incidents is born, by focusing on the lives of two kids in 1980's India.

“Bhagwan Bharose” review is part of the Submit Your Film Initiative

Bhola and Shambhu are two children living in rural India, in a small village. They get their teachings from Pandit-ji, a man who essentially explains the world through Hindu mythology, shaping up the kids in the village in that fashion. As they have no conception of any other alternative, the two never question what their teacher tells them. Things, however, begin to change, when Bhola's father returns to...

(Ians Review) Enthralling 'Bholaa' is 'paisa vasool' all the way (Ians Rating: ****)
Image
Director: Ajay Devgn. Cast: Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra and Gajraj Singh.

Cinematography: Aseem Bajaj. Music: Ravi Basnur.

Ians Rating: ****

Action is a wide-open genre and term, and when one endeavours to include an emotion-filled tale into the matrix, it sure does have a strong appeal to movie watchers cutting across demographics.

In his newest directorial, the actioner ‘Bholaa’, Ajay Devgn relooks and redefines the ‘Man on a Mission’ exercise with overwhelming fervour, grit and determination. And the best part is that for him, his awe-inspiring task seems

like some kind of an errand he has been made to run.

And so, when Inspector Diana (Tabu in yet another impressive cop role) confiscates a consignment of cocaine, obviously, the euphoria of the entire police force at her thana knows no bounds. But after downing a few drinks their elation is shor-tlived, when during the celebrations itself, senior officer...

Happy Maha Shivratri – BollySpice style!!
In celebration of Lord Shiva’s Maha Shivratri, one of the most prominent festivals of the Hindu calendar, we bring you some of our favourite Lord Shiva related Bollywood songs.

As we explore a few of the different shades that Bollywood has celebrated Lord Shiva through, we take you on a very quick journey beginning in 1950, with the song “Bhole nath se nirala” to end with Koyla’s (1997) mischievous “Bhang Ke Nashe Mein”.

Known by at least 1008 different names, including “Kailas” (One who bestows Peace), “Shambu” (Source of everything) and “Hari” (Sustainer and Destroyer), Lord Shiva is said to have married Parvarti on Maha Shivratri. Other readings of Hinduism state that Maha Shivratri is the night on which Shiva performed “Tandava” – the dance that led to the creation, conservation and destruction of the Universe.

Maha Shivratri is also known as Lord Shiva’s favourite day.

However you may be celebrating...
