According to Peacock, a revival of the supernatural drama “Grimm” is under development. David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, the original show’s writers and showrunners, will return for this new project. Josh Berman, who has written for “Drop Dead Diva,” “CSI,” and “The Blacklist,” is writing the project.
Not much is known about the revival yet. Talks are going on right now about whether it will be a full-length movie or a new series. Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner are the original executive directors of the production team. Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television are running the project.
From 2011 to 2017, NBC broadcast the original “Grimm” in six seasons. The show was about Detective Nick Burkhardt from Portland, Oregon, played by David Giuntoli. Peacock is bringing Grimm back, this time as a movie. The popular supernatural drama, which aired on NBC from 2011 to 2017, is being reimagined as a feature-length film.
Josh Berman, best known for creating Drop Dead Diva, is writing and producing the project alongside the original series’ creators, David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf.
Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner from Hazy Mills Productions, along with Universal Television, are also attached as executive producers.
Details about the plot and cast remain under wraps, but the movie is expected to connect to the original series while introducing new elements. This approach could cater to long-time fans of the show while also being accessible to new audiences. Some speculate the film could serve as a springboard for a larger franchise if it proves successful.

Meanwhile, Grimm is the latest drama to get the reboot treatment.

Grimm is officially back, but not in the way fans had been expecting. In 2017, the dark fantasy series from NBC finished its six-season run, with a spinoff announced shortly thereafter before being silently canceled as well. No news has been heard about the property for over six years, at least until now. Grimm is being rebooted for the modern streaming world, this time as a full-fledged feature film.
According to Deadline, Peacock is developing a film reboot of NBC's Grimm. The upcoming movie will be written by Drop Dead Diva creator Josh Berman, who will be joined by the show's original creative team, including co-showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, as producers. Plot details are scarce, but it's reported that the Grimm film serves as a new jumping-off point set within the same universe. After six seasons and 123 episodes, NBC cancelled the monster-filled series “Grimm” back in 2017, but it seems popular shows never quite stay dead in today’s streaming landscape.
On that note, Deadline reports this afternoon that Peacock is developing the revival of “Grimm,” which will take the form of a feature film on the Peacock streaming service.
Deadline details in today’s exclusive report, “Drop Dead Diva creator Josh Berman is writing the new take, which he is executive producing with the original series’ creative team, co-creators/executive producers and showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television.”
“The exact premise of the Grimm movie is kept under wraps,” Deadline notes. “It is believed to have ties to the series for diehard fans but could also be easily accessed by new viewers not familiar with the original mythology as it introduces new mythology and characters.

Peacock is heading back to the well to revive another hit NBC series from the past. Next up for the streaming service is a new movie that will revisit 14-year-old TV show Grimm.
Per Deadline, it's been revealed that a reboot movie of Grimm is now in development. Josh Berman (Drop Dead Diva) is attached to write the film. As of now, the premise of the film hasn't been revealed, and it's not clear how it will tie into the original series. Reportedly, the film is meant to connect to the TV show in some fashion as a way to be satisfactory for diehard fans, but it's also believed to be written in a way that's accessible for people who never saw the original Grimm. Potentially, the film could launch a new franchise, depending upon how well it is received.

A feature film sequel to the seminal 1985 Brat Pack movie “St. Elmo’s Fire” is in early development, Rob Lowe confirmed in a recent interview. Lowe and his son, John Owen Lowe, talked to “Entertainment Tonight” about their Netflix comedy series “Unstable,” and the actor spoke about the possibility of rebooting “St. Elmo’s Fire” as a Sony film.
“We’ve met with the studio and I have been talking about doing it for about four months,” Lowe said about a potential sequel. He said the release of the “Brats” documentary earlier this summer from fellow Brat Packer Andrew McCarthy has “only added to the excitement around it.”
“But it’s very, very, very, very, very early stages,” he said. “So we will see.”
The original “St. Elmo’s Fire” followed seven recent college graduates navigating their new adult lives, and co-starred Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, McCarthy, Emilio Estevez and Ally Sheedy. The late Joel Schumacher was director,...

TV crossovers have been a thing for the vast majority of the medium's history as a popular form of entertainment. From "The Jetsons" meeting "The Flinstones" to "The Simpsons" meeting the characters from "Futurama," there's a rich history here. But not every crossover is quite so obvious. For example, the Fox crime drama "Bones" ended up crossing with, oddly enough, Seth MacFarlane's animated sitcom "Family Guy." Bizarre though it may sound, both shows aired on the same network at the same time, and there was a good enough reason to bring these characters into the same universe at the time.
The episode in question was the second to last episode of "Bones" season 4, entitled "The Critic in the Cabernet." While the main plot involves human remains found inside a wine barrel during a tasting, the crossover has to do with the episode's B-plot. In the episode, Emily Deschanel's...

It’s a great slate with 43 countries represented.”
The festival starts Feb. 8 with the world premiere of “Miranda’s Victim” from director-producer Michelle Danner. The period piece is set in the year 1963 and documents the true story of Patricia “Trish” Weir (Abigal Breslin), who attempts to put her abuser behind bars after being kidnapped and sexually assaulted at 18 years old.

“Murder House Flip,” the home renovation show where two designers makeover portions of properties once at the center of notorious crimes, returned to Roku this month for its second season, aimed at helping homeowners reclaim their spaces.
Some of the homeowners the show features in Season 2 knew upon purchase the history of their property, but others – due to a statute of limitations on disclosures – found out later and, therefore, welcomed the idea of a TV show makeover team giving their spaces a new look.
“We want the homeowners to find peace and tranquility following the horrible crime that occurred in their house,” executive producer Josh Berman said. “We also like to speak with neighbors to find out what it’s like living next to the ‘murder home.’ When we hear that neighbors literally avoid walking by a home or that kids are scared to play near the ‘murder house,’ we...

Exclusive: Jeff Frost, a 15-year Sony TV veteran, is stepping down as President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, a post he has held for the past five years. According to sources, his departure was a mutual decision. With the TV studio coming off a banner year — hitting an all-time high of over 50 produced series and making waves at the 2021 Emmy nominations — I hear Frost felt it was time to leave and start a new chapter. Frost just shared his decision with his staff; Ravi Ahuja, Chairman, Global Television Studios, announced Frost’s departure in a company email. (You can read both in full at the bottom of the post.)
There is no immediate replacement for Frost. I hear a search is in very early stages, and the studio has held exploratory conversations with a handful of seasoned TV executives. Frost will stay on through September to help with the transition.

A reboot of “Drop Dead Diva” with a gender-swapped premise is in the works at CBS from the original series’ creator, Josh Berman, TheWrap has learned.
Written by Berman, the potential series based on the now-ended Lifetime drama, titled “Drop Dead Dave,” follows shallow, entitled, Gen Z lawyer Dave, who dies in a freak accident and has his soul transferred into the body of Rita, a successful but complicated Gen X attorney, forcing Dave to live as a woman and navigate an entirely new perspective on life, love and identity.
Lifetime’s original “Drop Dead Diva” followed Deb, a vain model who dies in a freak accident and has her soul shift into the body of whip-smart, plus-sized lawyer, Jane (played by Brooke Elliot). The show had a six-season run from 2008-2014, during which it was briefly canceled following its fourth season before being revived due to high ratings and fan outcry.

Other creative talent who have been at Sony TV for a long time include fellow showrunners Vince Gilligan, Shawn Ryan, Josh Berman and Robia Rashid as well as producers Doug Robinson, Neil H. Moritz and Seth Gordon.

Amazon-owned streaming service puts five more projects in development
Amazon’s IMDb TV will adapt Tegan and Sara’s best-selling memoir “High School” into a drama series that will be executive produced by Clea DuVall. Additionally, the streaming service is significantly expanding its output by putting five more scripted projects in development and greenlighting three unscripted series.
“High School,” which will be co-created by Tegan and Sara, is described as a coming-of-age story of first loves and first songs. Produced by Amazon Studios and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, “High School” is a story about finding your own identity — a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimics your own. Told through a backdrop of 90s grunge and rave culture, the series weaves between parallel and discordant memories of twin sisters growing up down the hall from one another.

Amazon’s IMDb TV free, ad-supported streaming service is bulking up its originals lineup — announcing five new series in development, including a comedy from “The Good Place” creator Michael Schur and author Shea Serrano.
The projects are part of Amazon’s first-ever NewFronts presentation to advertisers on Monday.
“Primo,” from Serrano and Schur, is billed as a coming-of-age story about a Mexican-American teenager balancing cultural norms, college aspirations, societal expectations and the hectic home life of being raised by his single mom and five uncles.
The series is written and executive produced by Serrano, who based the comedy on his upbringing. Schur, who co-created “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Parks and Recreation” after serving as a writer and producer on “The Office,” also serves as executive producer alongside David Miner. “Primo” is a Fremulon and 3 Arts production in association with Universal TV, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Feature films could be the next big untapped market for unscripted reboots. HBO Max is making a reality competition series inspired by Magic Mike and now Sony is looking at its movie library.
Holly Jacobs, EVP, Alternative and Syndication Programming for Sony Pictures Television, told Deadline that it is about to take a project to market with a non-scripted format based on a Sony movie.
“Now we’re tapping into our amazing feature titles. We’re about to go out with one with an unscripted lens around it. We’re looking at a number of titles. If a title is well known, it’s fantastic to lean in to what is that movie and is there an unscripted way, what would be the basis. People are looking at things that they feel comfortable with, they remember,” she added.
