2025 hasn't exactly been filled with new horror TV shows yet, but with the upcoming Alien: Earth series and the release of It: Welcome to Derry, the genre promises to thrive on the small screen in the latter half of the year. That being said, there is one recently released gem that has flown largely under the radar that's dominating streaming, and if you're a fan of shows that pay homage to the classics while at the same time delivering a fresh take on some old tropes, Hell Motel is definitely for you.
Hitting AMC+ and Shudder on June 17, 2025, Hell Motel comes by way of the creators of the anthology horror series, Slasher. Set in the fictional Cold River Motel, the show follows 10 true crime obsessives who are invited to the opening weekend of the newly renovated setting, which is also the site of a 30-year-old unsolved Satanic Mass Murder. One of the stars of Prime Video's dark comedy superhero series The Boys is the lead of a new slasher miniseries titled Hell Motel, and it's already earning solid reviews. Hell Motel is an eight-episode series streaming on Shudder, a streaming platform designed specifically for horror lovers that has previously developed critically acclaimed films, including When Evil Lurks. The series stars Shaun Benson (The Boys), Paula Brancati (Slasher), Genevieve DeGraves (Jupiter's Legacy), and many more, with the ensemble playing a crucial role in its plot.
Hell Motel, which stars The Boys' Ezekiel actor Shaun Benson, has released its first three episodes on streaming, and debut reviews on Rotten Tomatoes give the show an 80% score. Critics praise the show for building on classic horror genre titles like Halloween, offering a compelling whodunnit-style mystery, and delivering a thoughtful critique of how the entertainment industry exploits tragedy for content. "I don't want to be your friend, you old trout!" New Mountain Films has unveiled an official trailer for an indie comedy film titled Loathe Thy Neighbor, formerly known as Yuppie. This Canadian dark comedy is directed by Sergio Navarretta, and will be out later this summer. When a neurotic city transplant inherits his late father's rural farm, he must survive his unhinged neighbor's psychological warfare while discovering that sometimes your worst enemy might just save your life. He gets caught up in a standoff with his cranky neighbour, played by Lauren Holly in a role that's deliciously deadpan and totally unhinged. Described as a "twisted rural comedy about finding your roots and discovering that the person driving you crazy might be exactly what you need to finally grow up." With Lauren Holly & Brennan Clost, with Shaun Benson, Brittany Raymond, Paloma Nuñez, Jessica Greco, & Luke Humphrey. Looks like zany, absurd fun.

Actor Scott Reeves is making a return to Port Charles. His character, Steven Webber, is rejoining the world of General Hospital. Reeves himself has recently talked about what it was like returning to the soap.
Scott Reeves Had Asked Showrunners When Steven Would Return
Reeves got his start in soaps playing Jake Hogansen on Days of Our Lives. After a few film and television appearances, he joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in 1991, playing Ryan McNeil. Initially intended to be recurring, Reeves appeared in the role until 2001.
In 2009, Reeves joined the cast of General Hospital as Steven Webber, taking on the role from Shaun Benson. Initially intended to be recurring, much like with the McNeil character, Reeves would stay in the role until 2013.

However, Reeves returned to Port Charles in an October 24, 2024, episode. The actor talked about his return to General Hospital in an interview with Soap Opera Digest.

I still think Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Supernatural reunion can and should happen in The Boys season 5, even if it looks very different from how I originally envisioned it. In season 4, The Boys' massive Kessler twist revealed that Morgan's character was a figment of Butcher's (Karl Urban) imagination. Although Joe Kessler appeared to his old war buddy on multiple occasions, none of the other members of The Boys season 4's cast of characters could see him. This became increasingly clear as the show neared its finale and as Butcher's Temp V-caused tumor worsened his hallucinations.
In my opinion, The Boys' Kessler twist was obvious due to the way it echoed Morgan's well-known Grey's Anatomy story, so I'd given up on a traditional Supernatural reunion between Morgan's Kessler and Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy awhile ago. Before Eric Kripke developed The Boys for TV, he rose to prominence by creating Supernatural,...

The fourth episode of the new season ended with Erin Moriarty's Starlight losing her temper against Firecracker and beating her to a pulp on stage in front of live cameras. Just a few yards away, Butcher somehow also mysteriously wiped the floor with Shaun Benson's Ezekiel.

This article contains spoilers for The Boys season 4 episode 4.
It’s not looking good for Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher on The Boys, with the season 3 finale warning fans that the foul-mouthed cockney has only 12-18 months to live (if he’s lucky). With Butcher being the backbone of the series and leader of the titular Boys, we were worried that we’d be going into the fifth and final season without Billy by our side. Don’t worry though, because season 4 episode 4 might have just given him a new lease of life.
It doesn’t take the intellect of Sister Sage to figure out something’s not right with Butcher but “Wisdom of the Ages” introduces a potential get-out-of-jail-free card. We saw the side effects of Butcher injecting Temp V in season 3, leaving him with an inoperable brain tumor. While it all seems pretty finite, and Butcher himself claims...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains major spoilers from episode 4 of “The Boys” Season 4, currently streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
This season of “The Boys” continues to outdo itself in gross-out moments, and episode 4 has plenty of them — like an ice-pick lobotomy, a lasered-off penis and flame-broiled scientist.
The episode begins with Homelander (Antony Starr) returning to his roots and revisiting the underground laboratory where he was violently tested on as a super-powered child. He gets revenge on the Vought scientists by putting them through the same torture he endured. One unlucky person gets trapped in an oven and burnt to a crisp; another is forced to masturbate in front of his colleagues before Homelander shoots an eye-laser through his penis and kills him. The psychotic supe learns more about the torment Vought performed on him as a kid, and he ends the episode covered in blood and surrounded by the scientists’ mutilated bodies.

Billy the Kid? More like Billy the Crisis Averter!
MGM+ on Wednesday unveiled the key art and official trailer for Billy the Kid Season 2, and it promises to be filled with action.
Seriously, we need the second season right now.
"The epic romantic adventure inspired by the life of America's most infamous outlaw continues in Season Two, as Billy and his allies square off against his oldest friend Jesse Evans and the corrupt powers of the Santa Fe Ring," the streaming service teases.
"When shots are fired, the conflict erupts into the bloody Lincoln County War. Amidst the fighting, Billy will struggle to hang onto his soul—and to the love of his life."
"The other side has the advantage," Billy declares in the action-packed trailer.
"You're farmers," he adds.
"Jesse Evans and his gang are all practiced killers."
It seems like Billy will have his work cut out for...

Trader is a fascinating, minimalistic film that brings the audience into a world of chance, rigged games, and the ever present drive to come out on top. It is a surprisingly tense film that hooks its audience via the inherent mystery of its main character, and leads us on a wild journey where though we have absolutely no idea what’s coming, we’re pretty certain that it will end in a trainwreck for someone.
The film (written and directed by Corey Stanton) opens in a dingy, barely furnished apartment. We see a woman (Kimberly-Sue Murray) on a headset, a laptop open in front of her. She has just begun a call with an elderly gentleman. She said that she is from a credit agency and was calling because they noticed a few strange charges pop up on his credit card. Would he be willing to confirm his credit card number for her?...

Billy the Kid will be back on TV screens very soon.
MGM+ this week that Billy the Kid Season 2 will debut on Sunday, October 15, at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.
There is a little bit of a catch:
Four episodes of the season will air this year, with the final four being held until 2024.
A reason for the decision has not been revealed, but there's a good chance it has something to do with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Stars: Kimberly-Sue Murray | Features the voices of: Shaun Benson, Stephen Bogaert, Ellen Dubin, Samora Smallwood, Art Hindle | Written and Directed by Corey Stanton
From the opening shot panning downstairs into a basement apartment, writer/director Corey Stanton establishes the sole location his film occurs within. A phone call is taking place, as a lone woman (Kimberly-Sue Murray) enacts fraud to access a man’s credit card details and prescription information. She uses this to stock up on pills and buy expensive products, selling the latter to fund her passion; stock market trading.
Following his 2018 feature-debut, Robbery, Stanton crafts a chamber piece about one character’s desire to rise above the rock-bottom situation and location she wishes to leave behind. As the story stays in the basement setting, the film must find ways to make the inescapable situation appear cinematic. This is achieved by going inward, terrifically visualising the inner workings...

When viewers think of "The Boys," many of them probably focus on the show's biting humor or its bombastic gore before they consider its devastating emotional beats. The satirical superhero series is full of gut-wrenching emotion and heartbreaking moments, made all the more affecting by its stellar cast. "The Boys" digs into what it really means to have unlimited power in a world ruled by greedy CEOs and mendacious media companies, and it uncovers a great deal of sorrow in the "collateral damage" that is often ignored by more straightforward superhero stories.
The characters in "The Boys" mourn many different types of deaths: deaths of loved ones, deaths of dreams, and deaths of hope. Guilt and loss guide so many of their actions, yet they keep creating new avenues for those heavy emotions. The show interrogates the myth of superheroism, batting away nearly every opportunity for love or happiness. This...

Why can't a woman have it all?
Diane Neal and Tamera Tunie aren't the only Law & Order: Svu alum to grace the screen in Ann Rule-inspired films this month.
Stephanie March is joining the fray of the Ripped from the Headlines slate of movies that will have you glued to the screen with A House on Fire.
A House on Fire, Lifetime's latest true-crime book-to-screen film, is based on the Ann Rule novel Bitter Harvest.
March plays esteemed doctor and mother Deborah Green. On the surface, she couldn't be happier with her life.
It's everything that a person would desire. She has a thriving career, a successful husband, who is also in the medical field, a lovely home, and children.
It appears as if she's living the American dream, but of course, nothing is ever as it seems behind closed doors.
Deborah's marriage to her husband (Shaun Benson) is rocky at best.

"You just messed up big time, Fatman!!!!" Saban Films has released an official trailer for a wacky fun new action-comedy called Fatman, which is a reference to the slang word for what people sometimes call Santa Claus. Which is exactly what this is about. Mel Gibson stars as Chris Cringle, a "rowdy, unorthodox Santa Claus" who is upset fighting his business going downhill. To save his declining business, Cringle is forced into a partnership with the U.S. military. Making matters worse, he gets locked into a deadly battle of wits against a highly skilled assassin, hired by a precocious 12-year-old after receiving a lump of coal in his stocking. This also stars Walton Goggins, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Shaun Benson, Chance Hurstfield, Jordan Blais, Deborah Grover, and Paulino Nunes. Yes this looks as fun as it sounds, in a good way. And honestly I must admit I love the tagline, too:...

Tagline: "Fear is the Most Dangerous Power." Code 8 is a sci-fi feature film. A sequel to a short film, this feature focuses on a growing population with supernatural abilities. Forced to the fringes of society, these super-humans struggle to survive and are persecuted for their powers. Developed by director Jeff Chan, this title stars: Robbie Amell (Arq), Stephen Amell ("Arrow"), Greg Bryk (Saw V), Kari Matchett, Sung Kang, Alex Mallari Jr., Peter Outerbridge, and Shaun Benson. The film's first trailer debuted late last week and can be found here. This title was funded through a Kickstarter run. Over two million dollars were raised, vastly exceeding the filmmaker's expectations. Shooting began on the film in the Summer of 2017. And, the results look impressive from what can be seen in the trailer below. Vertical Entertainment has already set December 13th as the film's release date. On this date, Code 8 will be available on Digital platforms.

Everybody sees dead people in “I Still See You,” a slickly produced but none-too-scary thriller designed for that teen audience which prefers that its spooky Halloween fare involve cute guys of variable mortality fawning around a mildly misfit quirky-girl protagonist. If that sounds kinda “Twilight,” you’ve got that right — the source material is a standalone novel by Ya specialist Daniel Waters, whose “Generation Dead” series more or less substituted zombies for vampires in a similar supernatural teen romance saga.
Here, we have live boys and ghost boys alike fluttering around the suburban Goth flame of Bella Thorne in a movie that will no doubt play best to the book’s fans. Newcomers will find this adapted tale’s fantasy logic arbitrary, its plot convoluted, and the sum effect wildly unconvincing without being nearly so fun. Still, it’s given a suitably gauzy feel by director Scott Speer that will appeal to the target demo.

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Raven Banner Entertainment's publicity arm. Director: Leo Scherman. Writers: Matt Booi and Leo Scherman. Cast: Karine Vanasse, Rossif Sutherland, Rob Archer, Charlie Carrick, Shaun Benson, Ted Atherton, Adam Hurtig and Robert Stadlober. Leo Scherman's Trench 11 is a World War I set horror film. There have been other horror films set in this time period, including Michael J. Bassett's Deathwatch (2001). This time, six Allied soldiers are tasked with exploring an underground, German medical complex. Shot in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Trench 11 offers some great practical make-up effects, from Francois Dagenais. However, the plot and the characters are a bit lightly drawn. Meanwhile, nothing about Trench 11 sounds like World War I. The costumes look great. Still, it is always strange to see a Canadian character with an American accent. At the end of the film, this horror film fan found Trench 11 a bit.

I've got a fun trailer for an awesome looking new horror film called Trench 11. The movie is set during World War I and it revolves around the discovery of a zombie outbreak in the final days of the war. I really enjoyed this first trailer for the film and I can't wait to watch this movie! Here's the synopsis:
In the final days of Wwi a shell-shocked tunneller leads an Allied team into a hidden German base… 100 hundred feet below the trenches. The Germans have lost control of a highly contagious biological weapon that turns its victims into deranged killers. The Allies find themselves trapped underground with hordes of the infected, a rapidly spreading disease and a team of German Stormtroopers dispatched to clean up the mess. The only thing more terrifying than the Western Front… is what lies beneath it.
