A native of Los Angeles, Kinsey launched his television career in 1993 as a writer's assistant at Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment. By 1997, he had advanced to Director of Development for Steve Oedekerk, renowned for the 'Ace Ventura' franchise. In 1999, Kinsey founded his first company, Kinseyfilm Incorporated,
providing editorial services to the Los Angeles television industry.
In 2002, he founded Atlas Digital, a full-service post-production facility, which, by the end of 2004, was generating over $1.2 million in annual revenue. After selling Atlas Digital in 2005, Kinsey transitioned into directing documentaries, completing three notable projects filmed in Israel, Jamaica, and South Central Los Angeles.
Throughout his career, Kinsey has worked in conflict zones, served as creative director for dozens of websites and apps, and designed post production departments for iconic television shows such as Let's Make a Deal and The Price is Right. In 2021, Atlas Digital grossed over $12 million, employing more than 50 people, continuing the business model he originally created.
Currently based in the Florida Keys, Kinsey owns Ocean Films, where he serves as a director, photographer, and VFX producer, working with major clients such as Netflix. With 30 years of experience spanning film, television, VFX, and technology, Kinsey brings a diverse skill set and an entrepreneurial spirit honed through the creation of seven corporations across two countries.
Additionally, Kinsey holds a 100-ton Master Captain's license from the United States Coast Guard, with over 10,000 nautical miles of passage-making experience, including 1,500 solo miles at sea.
