One FCC commissioner wants to ban TikTok from the Apple and Google app stores because of the China-controlled video app’s “pattern of surreptitious data practices.”

Brendan Carr tweeted a letter he wrote last week to Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google/Alphabet chief exec Sundar Pichai that cited “an alarming new report [that] sheds fresh light on the serious national security threats posed by TikTok.” Read his letter here.

In his tweet (see it below), Carr wrote: “TikTok is not what it appears to be on the surface. It is not just an app for sharing funny videos or memes. That’s the sheep’s clothing. At its core, TikTok functions as a sophisticated surveillance tool that harvests extensive amounts of personal and sensitive data.”

He added: “I’ve called on Apple & Google to remove TikTok from their app stores for its pattern of surreptitious data practices.”

Coming off the success of his micro-budget "animals attack" feature Snow Shark, Buffalo director Sam Qualiana has crafted a new monster movie inspired by found footage and local Native American tales, The Legend of Six Fingers.

Shot on location in upstate New York, Six Fingers’ cast includes genre favorites Lynn Lowry (The Crazies) and Debbie Rochon (Tromeo and Juliet).

The Legend of Six Fingers was produced by Gregory Lamberson (Slime City, Slime City Massacre) and executive produced by Michael Raso. It comes to home entertainment June 24, 2014, on the Bloody Earth Films label. The film premiered at 2013’s Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival.

Qualiana, who stars in the film with local actor Andrew Elias, previously helmed Snow Shark: Ancient Snow Beast. Debbie Rochon and Lynn Lowry co-star in the film, which was produced by Greg Lamberson (Slime City Massacre, Dry Bones) and executive produced by Michael Raso of Camp Motion Pictures.

Qualiana and Elias portray two amateur filmmakers documenting a string of animal slaughters in rural Royalton. Production is now officially under way on writer/director Sam Qualiana's new found footage monster flick, The Legend of Six Fingers, and we have all the details along with some fresh behind-the-scenes stills and artwork.

On the same day that author and filmmaker Greg Lamberson (Slime City Massacre, The Jake Helman Files) concluded a successful crowdfunding campaign for the project on IndieGoGo, writer-director Sam Qualiana began production on his new found footage monster flick, The Legend of Six Fingers, in Royalton, New York. Lamberson is producing the film, and Michael Raso, the head of Camp Motion Pictures, is executive producing. Camp is also providing matching funds for the donations to the film, which stars Qualiana and Andrew Elias. Debbie Rochon and Lynn Lowry have already filmed key scenes, and Tiffany Shepis is scheduled to appear as well.

Fast food giant KFC has revealed its summer campaign will centre on a partnership with the Madden Brothers. The “Good Times” campaign took six months to create and launched last night with a live performance by the Maddens and Jimmy Barnes.

The campaign will roll out across social media and PR with a Tvc component, and will invite Australians to share what they believe makes life in Australia so good. The culmination of the campaign will be a song recorded by the Maddens – both of whom are members of Good Charlotte – and inspired by the images and quotes shared by the public on the KFC Good Times app.

The song will be performed live for the first time at the KFC branded International Twenty20 cricket match at Anz Stadium on Australia Day and will be available to KFC Facebook fans as an exclusive download before going on sale to the general public.

Charles Cadell

McCann’s regional boss Charles Cadell expects the ad agency network’s Australian operation to be a top three agency by this time next year.

He said the agency, which has recently had its first anniversary since the merger with Smart in a reverse takeover, is “chalk and cheese” compared to the McCann of old.

“The issue pre-merger was growth,” Cadell told Mumbrella. “We just weren’t winning new business and bringing in revenue. So any improvement would only come about by squeezing costs. You can only do that for so long before the product starts to suffer.”

“We made the Smart acquisition for two reasons,” he said. “Frankly, because McCann was broken. And because we wanted to capitalize on the scale in this market, where there is a good opportunity for growth with the right elements in place.”

It was an inevitable alliance. Silicon Valley pillars will join together in Washington to form a lobbying group in order to oppose federal restrictions to their industry. A group like this is the first in the Web's history. Called 'The Internet Association,' the roster includes Facebook, Google, Yahoo, LinkedIn, Zynga, and Amazon. Microsoft and Apple are notably missing. The association aims to continue their successful fight against anti-piracy -- particularly against the two bills known as Sopa and Pipa. The Washington Post notes that Google has already spent nearly $9 million on lobbying in the first two quarters of 2012. The Hill reports that Michael Beckerman, the association's CEO, said that the Stop Online Piracy Act was a “wakeup call" to the group's members to join forces.

Screamkings Productions in association with THR Productions Ltd is pleased to announce the Camp Motion Pictures release of the awarding winning feature film Sculpture.

Sculpture is a psychological horror gore-fest that tells the story of Ashley Steele (Raine Brown), a struggling artist who returns home after the death of her parents (Marv Blauvelt and Susan Adriensen) only to find her possessive rich older brother, Adam (Dustin Kerns), and the haunting memories of her repressed past await her. Her childhood friend, Emily (Misty Mundae) tries to free her from the grasp of her egotistical brother. Meanwhile she is commissioned by a well known art dealer (Alan Rowe Kelly) to create a life-size sculpture of the perfect man, and uses body builders from her brother's gym as models. Before long she finds herself spiraling down a path of unspeakable psychopathic terror and murder as she frantically tries to complete her masterpiece.
