  • Appeared in two films from the Superman franchise, but playing different roles: in Superman III (1983) he played a Tanker Captain while in Superman IV (1987) he played the U.S. President.
  • Played two American presidents in 1987: Ronald Reagan in Breakthrough at Reykjavik (1987) and a fictional American president in Superman IV (1987). Later on, he played Harry Truman in Diamonds High (1988).
  • Attended RADA.
  • Provided a voice, uncredited, in the film One Million Years B.C,.
  • In addition to his many acting credits he was a well used narrator on documentaries during the '50's. These included 'The Figure Head', (1952), 'Modern Ireland' (1953),' Paris in London' and 'Four Legs to Master' (1955) 'Have a Care', 'Fur, Feathers and Finery', 'Signs of Life',and 'June in January' (1956), 'Operation Universe', 'The Savage Mountain', 'And so Forth', 'The Oyster and the Pearl', 'Battleground', and 'Mountain Holiday' (1957), 'Pooches on Parade', 'Secret World' and 'Riviera Express (1958), 'Cuckoo Land' 'The Isle and the Pussycat' and 'Wreckers Coast' (1959) 'Six of the Best- A Short Memory' (1962) and the 'Spotlight' and 'World of Life' series from the '50's.
  • When he was young, he resembled Tom Courtenay; or actually, young Tom Courtenay resembled Robert.
  • Did the narration on two 14 minute short films, Human Touch and . kings and Commoners.
  • In the early 50's compered Saturday Night Out live on television.
  • He narrated a number of short films including Kings and Commoners, Human Touch, and Once Upon a Time.
