  • Eccentric English character actor, who once turned up for a theatrical performance of Anton Chekhov's "Three Sisters" (as "Captain Solyony") in American Indian war paint, with feathers affixed to his bandanna -- the audience, however, never cottoned on to the joke. Bayliss was trained at the Italia Conti Stage School and the John Gielgud Company, later appearing in over 100 stage productions, as well as on radio, in films and television.
  • Asked for his ashes to be put in a shoe-box.
