Virginia Lee Bates studied briefly at the University of Southern California before setting her sights on modeling. She appeared in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1952), Son of Sinbad (1955), Silk Stockings (1957), and Bells Are Ringing (1960). After a brief marriage to famed cinematographer Richard Moore, she returned to Arizona with her daughter Virginia Safely where she worked in the business sector until her death following complications of surgery.
