Serge Rezvani

For 45 years, the reclusive and cultish writer, painter, singer, and composer has lived in the French village of La Garde-Freinet, in the Maures mountains of the South of France, within the walls of a house called La Béate.

In 1950, when aged 22, he met Danièle, 19 (also known as Lula). "When she came along it was immediate and forever." And so it was, their remaining together until the beauty's death (from Alzheimer's Disease) during the winter of 2004-2005. "For 50 years we never left each other, not for one night, not for one day, not for one meal."

He is the son of an Iranian father and a Russian mother.
