- Classically trained character actress, who acted at virtually all of the great London theatres, including the Old Vic, the Royal Court, the Lyric Hammersmith and the Royal Shakespeare Company. She was a founding member of Shakespeare and Co in the U.S.. She also appeared frequently in TV episodes of popular series like Van der Valk (1972), Pie in the Sky (1994) and Inspecteur Barnaby (1997).

- She was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 2001 (2000 season) for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Passion Play at the Donmar Warehouse.
