Dayan Ballweg indicated on his Twitter account that he choose this pseudonym because "F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote a series of satirical short stories about a hack screenwriter in the '30s Hollywood for Esquire. They are collected as THE PAT HOBBY STORIES".
