His father was an civil engineer. Semir studied at the All Union State
institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow. He's a Director, actor,
script writer, sculptor, painter and great cook. Currently working in
Marmara University Fine Arts Faculty, Department of Cinema as
professor.
He has two sons already in the cinema world, the oldest one is a cinematographer educated in VGIK; the second one is an actor.
