Johnny was born into a military family in Ottawa, Ontario. His father was a colonel in the Canadian Army, and his mother owned a children's bookstore. He is the youngest of four children. He spent his summers as a white-water rafting and kayaking guide on the Ottawa, Lachine, and Rouge rivers. Upon graduating with an Honours BA in Political Science, and a minor in Film Studies from McGill University in Montreal, Johnny headed to Toronto to seek his fame and fortune in the film industry. Johnny has had a long, and varied career as a camera operator, DP, actor, and producer. He has been very fortunate to work with many talented directors, DP's, actors and crew members.
