SPTI to rep Strix catalog in Asia
Robert Aschberg in Aschberg (2009)
HONG KONG -- Sony Pictures Television International will represent the catalog of one of the largest Nordic TV production companies, Strix Television, in Asia, excluding Japan, SPTI said Tuesday.

The exclusive deal with Strix will provide SPTI with 70 television show formats which they will be able able to license in the territories.

"We have an outstanding track record and long history in licensing and co-producing scripted and unscripted formats in Asia and the deal marks a great step forward in expanding our light entertainment portfolio," said Todd Miller, SPTI's executive vp and managing director Asia.

Strix, founded in 1988, has produced a large number of successful television show formats, particularly in the reality genre. Their format "The Bar" was the world's first entirely interactive reality-TV program, and to date, has been sold to 63 companies, Strix said.

"We have a strong catalog and this agreement will enable us to strengthen our position in the international market even more," Strix CEO Robert Aschberg said.
