Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter will be showing in theatres today (that’s September 10th), with more showings to follow on Sunday, September 15th… and yes, of course, some theatres will be showing the movie this Friday as well, since it happens to be a Friday the 13th. Jason Voorhees will soon be resurfacing at Crystal Lake. The fourth installment of the masked murderer's movie series, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, is coming back to theaters to mark the slasher sequel's 40th anniversary.
Per Fangoria and Paramount Scares, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter will be returning to select theaters for a limited time on Sept. 10 and Sept. 15. Additionally, special showings will be held on Sept. 13, which just so happens to be a Friday the 13th. The return to theaters will allow horror fans a chance to catch the sequel on the big screen if they've never done so before, allowing filmgoers to watch the sequel it was first seen when it was released in theaters on April 13, 1984, which, of course, fell on a Friday.

Anthony Michael Hall endorses a potential Weird Science remake, despite being "certainly too old" for a sequel. Director John Hughes passed away in 2009, leaving any potential remake decision to Universal and his estate. The resurgence of '80s aesthetics and indie film bodes well for a Weird Science remake.
One of the original stars of Weird Science endorses a potential remake of the film. Weird Science is a 1985 teen sci-fi comedy about two nerdy high school boys who invent a computer program that creates the Platonic ideal of a woman, only for their plan to go awry. Weird Science was directed by John Hughes and featured a leading cast including Anthony Michael Hall, Illan Mitchell-Smith, Kelly LeBrock, Bill Paxton, Suzanne Snyder, Judie Aronson, and Robert Downey, Jr.
Speaking with Inverse, Hall responds to whether he would support a remake of Weird Science. The actor admits that he is "certainly too...

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Silver Scream Con returned to the Doubletree Boston North Shore in Danvers, Massachusetts on September 8-10 — ’cause let’s face it, baby, these days you gotta have a sequel!
Created by horror-inspired metalcore band Ice Nine Kills, Silver Scream Con has quickly established itself as a top-tier horror convention among celebrity guests and attendees alike. “Everybody’s been really nice, and I’m enjoying myself immensely,” said Tommy Lee Wallace, who created Michael Myers’ iconic mask for the original Halloween before going on to direct Halloween III: Season of the Witch. “I hope everyone gets the shit scared out of them!”
Not even severe thunderstorm alerts could stop the rabid fans, who traveled not just from all over North America but as far as Finland, Scotland, and England to attend. Ticket sales reportedly doubled from the previous year’s already-commendable showing,...

For the last few years, Paramount has been giving the Friday the 13th movies they released in the 1980s 40th anniversary steelbook Blu-ray releases. The original Friday the 13th got its steelbook release in 2020, and you can pick that up Here. Friday the 13th Part 2 got its steelbook release in 2021, and you can buy that one at This Link. Friday the 13th Part III followed its predecessors in 2022, and you can get that steelbook Here. There was no Friday the 13th movie released in 1983, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter didn’t come along until ’84, so I was wondering if Paramount was going to wait an extra year to release a steelbook for that one… and the answer is no. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter is getting a steelbook Blu-ray release for its 39th anniversary, and it’s already available for pre-order on Amazon!

One of the horror movies I’m most looking forward to for the remainder of 2021 is 13 Fanboy, co-written and directed by Deborah Voorhees, one of the stars of my beloved Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning. The film, about an obsessed Friday the 13th fan who takes his love of the series too far, now has a trailer. Check it out!

Happy Friday the 13th, Campers! It’s time to talk about the high water mark of the Friday the 13th saga, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), the action-packed fourth entry that was decidedly not the final chapter of this twelve-part (so far) series. Reader beware: this review is not devoid of spoilers, though this writer tries to maintain a few surprises for the uninitiated.
After Friday the 13th: Part III (1982) took terror into the third dimension, Final Chapter was able to capitalize on the best elements of its predecessors while smoothing out some of their storytelling hiccups. Final Chapter ports over the basic setup of Friday the 13th: Part II (1981) and Part III: Tormented former New Jersey summer camp attendee Jason Voorhees (Ted White this time around), wreaks belated vengeance on the same camp’s next generation of counselors. In the original Friday the 13th (1980), a surprising different...

Director Deborah Voorhees and the cast and crew of 13 Fanboy have been busy filming the upcoming meta-slasher movie, and the first teaser for the crowdfunded flick is now online. Inspired by creepy phone calls Voorhees had received from an anonymous fan, the movie follows a masked murderer obsessed with the Friday the 13th series. When the unknown killer starts butchering various stars from the movies, those left alive must attempt to use their experience dealing with Jason Voorhees to survive the fanboy's wrath. As a passion project from Friday the 13th stars for Friday the 13th fans, this movie helps to fill the void left from the legal battle over the rights to the series keeping another sequel from getting produced.

Best known for appearing in horror classics like The Return of the Living Dead and Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, legendary horror movie icon Thom Mathews is making his return to narrative acting in the Rellik Pictures movie Killer Therapy.
Directed by Barry Jay (Ashes), the movie explores the disturbing thoughts and ensuing therapy sessions of a young man named Brian. Thom Mathews leads the cast as family patriarch John Langston, and here's what the actor has to say about taking on a lead role once again in the horror genre.
"I'm very excited to bring Barry Jay & Andrew Krop's script Killer Therapy to life. After meeting with Barry and reading the script, I knew I wanted to bring this character to the screen because it brought me back to my horror roots. I always try to find the humanity in every role and I have a bloody good role as John Langston.

Friday the 13th franchise star Kane Hodder hasn't played Jason Voorhees on the big screen since 2002's Jason X, but the legendary horror star says he's ready to play the character once again if he gets the opportunity. Additionally, Hodder also has some ideas for the next Friday the 13th movie, which would see many other fan favorite stars returning to the series as well.
The thinking behind this is that longtime fans of the series have watched each of the installments so many times over the past couple decades, and it would be fun as a viewer to see many faces they recognize in the next movie. Kane Hodder says this.
"I just think that when they do do a 13th one, it certainly couldn't hurt to bring me back as Jason, unless it's in 20 years, maybe. But it certainly couldn't hurt the success of the movie, I don't think,...

Woo Hoo! We’re girl-starved teen nerds, and we’re cooking up our own living sex toy with our home computers! John Hughes turns an infantile idea into one of his not-bad teen angst comedies, as Kelly LeBrock materializes to fulfill their wildest dreams. The idea is of course transformed into a basically benign coming-of age story … with the underlying message that we’d not all mind having Ms. LeBrock reformat our hard drive. It all begins as a bad arrested-development joke, but Hughes’ audaciousness and fine production values make this a nostalgic favorite for folk that miss their (ugh) 1980s memories.

The Friday the 13th cast reunion movie 13 Fanboy has finalized its cast of special guest stars, as Lar Park Lincoln has joined the movie as the last horror hire. Lincoln spoke about the news herself in a Q&a video posted on her fan page on Facebook. Aside from her memorable role in the classic horror movie House II: The Second Story, Lincoln is best known to horror fans for playing the lead role of Tina Shepard in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood. Because of the character's Carrie-like abilities, Tina manages to defeat Jason Voorhees in the end of the movie, making Lincoln the seventh "final girl" of the Friday the 13th series.

Director Cody Faulk has released the second trailer for his Friday the 13th fan film Voorhees, and the video also reveals the movie's release date. The movie will appropriately release on September 13th of this year, which is, of course, Friday the 13th. Better yet, Voorhees will be free to watch on YouTube when it is released.

The Friday the 13th reunion slasher movie 13 Fanboy has added yet another fan favorite to the cast, as actress Adrienne King has been confirmed for a cameo. Directed and co-written by Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning star Deborah Voorhees, 13 Fanboy is a passion project made specifically for Jason fans. With a very meta story, the movie will be about a homicidal psychopath murdering legends from the horror genre, mostly from the Friday the 13th series. A bulk of the cast will all be playing themselves, and there will even be multiple Jason actors in the movie who just wind up as victims this time.

Dee Wallace recently reunited with her children from E.T. and Cujo, and shared a photo of the meeting online. In a photo posted to her official Twitter account, Wallace poses with E.T. co-star Henry Thomas and Cujo co-star Danny Pintauro at the Spooky Empire convention in Orlando, Florida. "They'll forever be my kids!" Wallace notes in the caption, referring to the times she played the mother to each of these actors when they were children in the classic '80s movies. For fans of both Cujo and E.T., there's just something inherently awesome about seeing all three of these people in the same photo.

Certainly, it goes without saying that the upcoming horror movie 13 Fanboy will be a must-see movie for horror fans. It seems to be the closest we'll get to seeing another Friday the 13th movie in the near future, considering the never-ending legal battle over the franchise rights. Officially, it has now been the longest span of time between Friday the 13th movies. The last one to be released was the 2009 remake by Platinum Dunes, which means we're coming up on a decade without seeing Jason Voorhees on the big screen. Unfortunately, the future of the franchise remains uncertain, due to some legal drama going on over the rights. With it potentially being years before we get another official movie, filmmakers are taking it upon themselves to keep Jason alive in the meantime. The next one to keep an eye on is Voorhees, which just released a full trailer this week.
From director Cody Faulk and executive producer Chris Plaushin, Voorhees began as a successfully crowdfunded short film. Upon shooting, it was realized that there was still so much more of the story left to tell, that the filmmakers launched another campaign to make the movie feature length.

Given her last name, you could say Deborah Voorhees was destined to have a career in horror movies. She became a favorite for fans of the genre beginning with her appearance in Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning back in 1985, which featured a scene of her character being stabbed through both eyes with a pair of garden shears. In recent years, Voorhees has been working on her own independent films under her Voorhees Films banner, and her next project will have fans of the franchise excited. Called 13 Fanboy, the indie flick will tell the story of an obsessed fan stalking the stars of the Friday the 13th movie series, killing them in similar ways their characters were murdered by Jason Voorhees (and Roy Burns) on screen.

He’s a very promising young filmmaker that not only appreciates all the facets of good storytelling, but also embraces the technology that would allow him to tell those stories within and outside the realm of known possibilities. That approach has worked pretty well for guys like Spielberg and Cameron, so I relished the opportunity to talk to someone with that same passion at the dawn of their career.
He has already crossed genres with some pretty surreal and powerful stories involving human emotion intersecting with extraordinary circumstances, and now he’s using an innovative new three screen technology in his horror short film The Secret Of 40. Ahari talks with me in this interview about his beginnings, his very impressive body of work thus far, and what may be next for how we watch and enjoy films.

Jason Voorhees lost his head, but got a stay of execution in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.
Friday the 13th has been considered unlucky since October 1307 when King Philip IV of France ordered the executions of all of the Knights Templars because God was “not pleased.” It was a bloody beginning to a long tradition.
But not every Friday the Thirteenth is unfortunate, no matter how much blood gets spilled. For example, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter was very lucky.
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter was supposed to close the franchise begun by the 1980 low budget proto-slasher movie Friday the 13th, which was directed by Sean S. Cunningham, written by Victor Miller and was separated by no degrees from Kevin Bacon. But it wasn’t so lucky. The son of a bitch gave us something to remember him by.

“Jason’s body has disappeared from the morgue!”
Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter screens Midnights this weekend (May 13th and 14th) at The Moolah Theater and Lounge (3821 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis, Mo 63108) as part of Destroy the Brain’s monthly Late Night Grindhousefilm series.
Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), the fourth film in the venerable franchise, is considered by hard-core fans of the series to be the best, although it was hardly the “final Chapter” (there were at least 10 more). Directed by Joseph Zito (The Prowler) directed, which is indeed far above average by slasher standards and features a good cast of recognizable 80’s brat pack wannabes, including Crispin Glover (Back To The Future), Corey Feldman (The Goonies), Lawrence Monoson (Last American Virgin) and Judie Aronson (Weird Science). It also ranks as one of the goriest in the series, thanks to the return of makeup effects legend Tom Savini,...

Universal Pictures and producer Joel Silver are moving forward on a remake of the 1985 teen comedy classic Weird Science.
Michael Bacall has been tapped to write the screenplay for this new version, which is being re-conceptualized as an R-rated comedy in the same vein as The Hangover. The original comedy starred Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith who created the perfect woman, only to realize that she is much more than just a sex object. Kelly LeBrock, Bill Paxton, and a 20-year-old Robert Downey Jr. also starred for director John Hughes. The story was later spun off into a Weird Science TV series on the USA Network.
Joel Silver is producing alongside Andrew Rona, with Alex Heineman serving as executive producer. No production schedule was given.
Michael Bacall wrote the screenplays for Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, Project X, and 21 Jump Street.

In the world of Friday the 13th, “Death and Sex” replaces the old “Death and Taxes” adage with endless reliability. Jason’s always on the prowl for more victims, and what better way for him to pad his numbers than by catching folks not only amidst the throes of passion but also in their euphoric comedowns?
In honor of this week's Friday the 13th, presented here for your, uh, pleasure are the 13 horniest kills in Friday the 13th history. That is to say, the top kills built around sexual machinations in one way or another. So please slide on a rubber, stay safe and give this a read!
13. Here’s one for the both of you! (Friday the 13th Part 2)
This fan favorite was obviously going to wind up on this list. By now everyone knows this infamous dispatch of two ‘counselors in training’ was curbed from Mario Bava...

Cannon Films, like any other studio yesterday or today, wanted to keep a good thing going, and for them in the 1980s it was the ninja movie. After two early successes for the studio in Enter the Ninja and Revenge of the Ninja (recall this film’s flashback here), success wasn’t guaranteed a third time in their Ninja III: The Domination. The studio took a break, as did director Sam Firstenberg, but in 1984 the studio wanted to revisit the genre, but with a twist. The deadliest art of the Orient is now in the hands of an American.
Killer Film catches back up with director Sam Firstenberg for an Action Packed Flashback for 1985′s American Ninja.
After the lukewarm reception to Ninja III: The Domination both critically and financially, Sam took a break from the genre with Breakin’ 2. “It was the company’s decision to keep the Ninja series alive,...

The final chapter? Yeah, right. As long as old hockey face keeps raking in the dough we.re stuck with him. The production thought it was Jason.s last stand so Tom Savini was brought back in to do the old boy in. You can.t keep a cash cow down though. After the massacre in part 3D, Jason Voorhees. Jason Voorhees took Burbank, California. Make that multiple Jasons; many of his victims, and final girls, too. Last night, Dark Delicacies (4213 W. Burbank) held a signing event for this week's DVD release of His Name Was Jason ( review ). The guest turnout - a mixture of cast and crew from twelve Friday the 13th films (that includes the reboot) - was so large, Dark Delicacies enlisted the help of Emerald Knights, a comic book store across the street, to hold everyone. The fans didn't seem to mind, braving the line outdoors, and the plunging temperatures, to meet the likes of Kane Hodder, Amy Steel, Cj Graham, John Fury, Shavar Ross, Judie Aronson and many more. Spirits inside were high and the "Jasons" appeared to get along just fine, although one bailed out early...
